DIY - BRZ Limited Steering Lock removal

For those interested in removing the steering lock from the BRZ Limited (pushbutton start), here's the DIY. I was hoping to remove the steering lock assembly and housing completely and use a relay to send the position feedback to the ECU, but as you can see, it's not a simple circuit. (on a side note, with the steering lock wiring connector unplugged, the car won't start).

The first image shows the not-so-simple circuit.

Step 0: remove the steering lock mechanism from the steering column (instructions can be found on post #4 & 5 of this DIY: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39313).
The security bolt is a PITA, FYI.

Step 1: Remove the phillips head screw to gain access via the cover on the opposite end.

Step 2: Remove the cover. Leave the motor and gear attached to the cover.

Step 3: Remove the spring (set aside for re-installation). Remove the PCB (printed circuit board) and pull it out, along with the black plastic wiring harness connector. (PCB and black plastic section is one piece. It may require some wiggling to get it to come out)

Step 4: Remove the shaft/gear/lock/lock spring/feedback magnet assembly. Then remove the lock and lock spring.

Step 5: Re-install the shaft/gear/feedback magnet assembly into the housing.

Step 6: Re-install the spring, the cover, and the phillips head screw. Tighten screw and re-install steering lock assembly onto steering column.

For non-OEM ECU people - this can be completely removed and the car will start / run fine, but the security light will always blink.

Thank you for the write up!
