Clutch Rattle at cold start

Hello,

Sorry if this has been posted before. I recently just started to experience this clutch rattle only at cold starts. When I push in the clutch the noise goes away. After about 10-15 minutes of driving the noise is completely gone. Any advice?

Btw- I am running motul gear oil.

Thanks

Noise from the shifter?? If it comes from the shifter itself then there is a TSB for that.

Definitely not gear shifter. The noise occurs when it's at a cold start in neutral. It's coming from under the hood. Noise goes away when driving.

Not unheard of, unlikely to be a problem aside from the noise.

Here's the first five threads that popped up on google:

Since yours is "whiteout" and not "halo", it must be '13 or '14. It hasn't been making this noise for more than a year until recently. Happens only when it's cold and only when it's in neutral. When the clutch is depressed, the noise goes away.

I think this is new. None of the threads strat61caster linked to matches OP's problem.

Thanks for the links but it doesn't describe the problems I'm having. I think I may just take it to the dealer tomorrow morning.

Did this happen after you change to gear 300, mines made that noise when i did, then i went to get a new tranny since it had a 3rd to 4th gear grind, after tranny replace all was good. But it was for sure clutch related im.just gonna save up for a clutch kit

It the vibrations passing though the flywheel. When your engine is in cold start it is creating more vibrations which pass though to the flywheel and clutch. These vibrations cause a chatter noise.

The noise will become more obvious with stiffer bushings as they don't dampen/asorb the engines vibrations as much. Anything that also removes mass will also increase the chatter (such as a lightweight crank pulley) or more so a lightweight flywheel.

It isn't unheard of for the OEM parts to chatter, if you feel excessive chatter is noticed it could be caused by worn parts (such as hot/spots, clutch glazing) or incorrect assembed/resurfaced parts(unlikely.) This is more common in aftermarket applications and not the original OEM equipment.

There's nothing wrong. It's not the clutch. High compression engine, pretty light flywheel, and low idle wakes up the backlash in the gearbox. The gears are just rattling in neutral.

There's zero sound deadening in the tunnel so it's pretty audible.

Because racecar.
