Anyone have squealing issues with their brakes? I'm about to go mad.

I originally had Porterfield R4-S street pads front and rear and they made noise (which Ive had on multiple cars and they've never made noise).

I decided to buy a dedicated set of rotors for street pads since I also have race pads. The new rotors with the R4-S pads made noise. I then went ahead and bought a set of BP-10 pads front and rear in hopes they would be quiet but they also make noise. Its a high pitched squeal as the car comes down to a stop. Its from the both fronts.

It drives me crazy and makes me want to take the stupid things off.

Tips?

Try the Carbotech 1521s (pad fitment was posted earlier in this thread) as they're pretty quiet for me on the street. When I get them hot they "sing" down to a stop, but they don't squeal. If that's too noisy (I understand, it is annoying sometimes with the weird noises) then try Stoptech's street pads, they have fitments that should work on the RR kit, but you may need to do some research.

i have the BP10 pads and they squeal too, but only when im coming to a stop slowly. When the pads are even moderately up in temps, they're completely silent though. Meaning, even after just a couple of "firm" stops, they stop squealing.

Im just hesitant to buy yet another set of pads. The 2 full sets i have should be quiet as well.. i just wonder if its something with the caliper design. Possibly not having a spring to hold the pads tight. Just thinking out loud.

its just the way the pads are.

try doing a couple of hard stops and the brakes will stop squealing... until they cool off again and then will squeal again after. lol

I have the BP10s in front and they sometimes make a bit of noise when rolling to a stop slowly with light pressure but increase or decrease the pressure and the noise goes away. I've just learned to brake a bit more aggressively on the street as a habit now but even when I do hear it, it's never loud or terrible, especially compared to my Hawks which sounded like a bus. Maybe consider getting some shims for the pads, it might help. Don't need to be good ones either, just some cheap ones should be fine.

Separate from this, I've been getting a bit of a ... clicking feeling in my brake pedal sometimes recently. Wondering if anyone has any ideas before I go chasing it down. Currently, I'm just planning to do a partial fluid bleed and pad swap and hope it goes away.

About the clicking, I only feel it in the brake pedal, not the wheel or anywhere else. It can happen when braking to come to a stop or even when fully stopped and just holding the car in place. Honestly, it feels like ABS but it's not nearly rapid enough, I'll feel maybe 1 click per second. I haven't experienced any issues with braking performance as a result so I'm not too concerned so I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it might be or has experienced anything like it. No CEL or anything on the car right now.

I'm still getting terrible brake noise when the rears get hot. Last trackday melted the teflon shims so back to square one.

Does anyone know if the Stg4 kit will clear Enkei RPF1 17x8 +45 (planned track wheels)? Also XXR 527 18x8.75 +35 (planned street wheels)?
Don't have the wheels yet, so can't test =/
Thank you!

the wheel template for the stage 2 kit had the edge of the template near the caliper touching the spokes of my RPF1 17x8 +45. although the edge that touched the spokes was still part of the template, it was not an actual part of the caliper (the caliper was rounded and there is a little space from the dotted lines on the template and the caliper drawing). I am assuming you would have about 1mm of clearance if the actual caliper was there instead of the template

the stage 1 template had no problems.

the circled corner in red was the portion that touched the spoke of the rim. the edge of the rim curves back inwards towards the barrel of the wheel causing the edge of the template to hit the inside of the spoke while the actual caliper drawing SHOULD be clear of the spoke. however, it is extremely close and I couldn't tell for sure. running a 2mm spacer as a crutch shouldn't be a problem, though I am not sure if it is "safe" under hard track conditions. someone will have to chime in on that part

2mm is not enough clearance on the track. The caliper can flex and expand when hot.

I've run a H&R 5mm spacer on the stock wheel studs on the track with R comps without issues.

Also, be very picky about where the tire balancer guy puts the stick on weights. Should never be an issue, but on other cars with BBKs, I've had Brembos take the weights right off the wheels.
