Another video of the RR stage 4 kit properly working at the track. The clouds made the track 2s faster.

For the guys running stage 1-4 front and OEM rear, what pad combinations are you running on track?

Looking at the standard BBK ($795) - obviously, this will bring the front bias up a bit. Do you have any pad recommendations for the OEM rear to compensate?

I don't plan to do any track driving - just spirited DD driving. I just need something a little bit more bitey with the additional of the supercharger.

this might seem like a rookie question, but how do you measure the wheel with the template? do I stick the "stub" portion of the area marked rotor on the template into the hub of my wheel, or do I keep the stub portion outside of the hub and even with the edges of the center hub?

I measured my 17x8 +35 RPF1's for the stage 2 kit and it's a really close fit with the stub portion of the template in the hub and decent clearance with the stub portion even with the edges of the center hub.

I've got the RR Racing SP 4pot front kit and I had a track day and it seems I have something interesting happening. Every time I hit the brakes hard, it seems sparks start shooting from my rotors. I've got some video but it's hard to see so I also took a screenshot from the video where you can see it pretty clearly.

Here's the video:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BQOlvR36b0"]shannonville fabi Sept 8 2016 sparks from brakes - YouTube[/ame]

I'll start by saying I'm not terribly worried. A quick check of the wheel, rotor, caliper and pad don't show any unusual wear, discoloration or scoring. I still have plenty of pad material and my rotors look good. At no point did my brakes start to feel or act funny and were completely fade free for the 2 half hour sessions.

A lot of the guys at the track suspect it is from high metal content in my brake pads but I have no idea if that is the case or what. I'm using the supplied BP10 pads from my RR Racing SP kit. We just want to be sure this is expected and nothing to worry about or a sign of any problems so I'm bringing it up here.

As you can tell in the video, the sparks seem to get more intense the hotter my brakes get since there isn't enough to be really visible in the video of the first pass, barely visible in the 2nd pass and clearly visible on the 3rd pass.

Edit: forgot to clarify that it was confirmed happening on both sides, in the front only. Rears did not spark, they are OEM with EBC Yellowstuff.

Apparently others have seen sparking from BP10's as well:

Maybe just keep an eye on your rotor/pad wear... and your paint

Sparking is normal. Don't worry about it.

is the sparking "normal" when using the BP10 pads specifically? what about other brand/compounds?

No idea but personally, I'm not going to worry about it. I've read lots of threads that indicate sparking is pretty common with certain combinations of brake pads and rotors, it's just that a lot of the time it just goes unnoticed because you're only hammering on it during the day time when it's bright enough that the sparks aren't obvious. Despite how it looks in my video and screen shot, it was getting pretty dark out when I took it.

For those wondering, You can safely run larger height pads (Ferodo FRP3116)

They are basically Wilwood 7420 pads, but 66mm tall rather than 61mm

I've been meaning to ask; because I ran a pad with a more shallow radial depth, there is a fair bit of unused rotor space.

Here is my rotor as it sits now:

And this was my rotor as I got it:

I'm wondering if I ran a longer radial depth pad on these rotors (after cleaning the rust off them of course) would there be any problem with that? I'm wondering because there is a pretty defined line etched out of the rotor where the pad sat and if running a pad that went over that part of the rotor, would it cause any issues?
