Does anyone hear a very subtle rattling/grinding like sound on deceleration in 2nd gear when coming to a stop, it does it also in 3rd but much more noticeable in 2nd? I know this engine isnt particularly the greatest sounding and we can hear a lot of parts working, but I can't remember my gen1 doing this.

Not sure if it come from the trans which would make more sense considering the difference between gears. Cars drives just fine so I don't feel taking a appointment at the dealer yet. Could just be gear chatter/ flywheel chatter, who knows.

Is it happening at any particular RPM? Others have mentioned some rattling around 4k RPM, but haven’t experienced any myself yet.

I'd have to double check but pretty sure it's lower than that, probably around 2k.

My first gen always did, but it would be at lower than 2k rpms. Had about 80k kms before it was written off..I did have to go in once for warranty. It was one of the valves or something common.. the replaced the ecu as well. Lucky it was caught before warranty ended. The cost was about 2600.

How about Apple car play and usb music at the same time. I couldn’t get it to work. Not both. Any way around that??

I’m noticing substantial clutch/flywheel chatter upon decel from 2K down, and upon acceleration at low rpm (800rpm up—most notable when rolling through a stop in 2nd).

It sounds like a cross between a diesel and a car with a bad dual mass flywheel haha

Sounds like the same low RPM behaviour as the first gen then.

It took me a while to get used to all the sounds my FR-S made, the 1st gens didn’t try to hide anything. It’s good to hear they haven’t refined the 2nd gens too much.

The engine is “new”, but it’s a stout motor, and most of the other parts of these cars have been tested and proven over time. Sounds like small software issues will be the biggest headache for early adopters. I’m planning on getting my 2nd gen GR86 or BRZ in Fall 2022.

I've got that too. It's noticeable but most other stick cars I've owned have done that as well so I'm not concerned by it.

How many wires are running to your mirror?

What software version do you have now for reference?
