Where is the safest spot to T a vacuum line?
Hi everyone,
Everything is in the title. If you could provide some picture of the spot you describe as well, that would be very appreciated! I'm not a mechanic unfortunately so the easiest the info is to understand, the better it is for me. I'm trying to build a custom vacuum-actuated exhaust cutout and am looking for the safest vacuum source. By safest, I mean something that will not falsify the data the ECU receives. Thank you in advance! Have a nice day, Wil |

I'm running an electric cutout for the moment and, even if I love it for its great versatility and the sound it allows my car to produce, I'm not a big fan of the sound it when shifting or when no thottle is applied at high rev.
I think a vacuum actuated cutout would makes the engine shine instead of the exhaust itself. |

I have ran vacuum source off of the brake booster line for close to a year now with no issues. There are a number of other spots that are post MAF sensor to reference vac from. If you remove the 'D4-S' engine cover there is a manifold to PCV connection. Underneath the intake manifold there is a nipple also, but that would involve deleting the EVAP purge solenoid....no one really does that unless they are using that harness for boost control.

Brake booster after the check valve is a good spot. And under the intake manifold cover there are lines you can also tap but the booster is your best bet if your MT if your AT then there is a spare port under the intake manifold cover you can use.

Thank you for the blistering quick answers!
So, T'ing the brake booster line would look a little bit like this, right? |

It's not going to be anytime soon since I'm in Canada (and my car is in Belgium) until middle of August.
I will try to make a DIY tutorial since I couldn't find any information of such setup. |
