Damn people are lazy and I don't even do the pedal dance. This should be one of those "As Seen On TV" items with an infomercial and terrible actors.

It could be a toggle switch on the device itself, it could be a wired switch that you could mount anywhere you desire in the cabin. The switch could be in the form of a button, a lever, or even a fingerprint scanner... the point is that the device could be 2 things. A Pedal Dance replicator and an OBDII port pass through.

No offense to the Speed Factory, but if you own an OFT, update it.

Depends on outside temp. On cooler days idling doesn't do the job. I've let the car idle for 20 minutes only to find the temp gauge is at the 1/4 mark from cold in 60F weather. It usually has to be around 1/3 for the pedal dance to work. Maybe raising the idle engine speed might help.

Also depends if you're strictly competing, or helping volunteer at the event as well.

And regarding the OBDII Y cables, they don't work because they don't have a can bus hub in them on pins 6 and 14. There are actually several generations of OBDII ports with various signaling and data rates and such, some of which are compatible with a splitter cable and others which are not. The CAN bus protocol (which this device and Solo DL work on) is one of the ones that is not amenable to simple signal splitter cables. That said, you MIGHT be able to make it work if you were to program the Solo DL to read legacy OBDII (since it is a different set of pins), though you would loose the best data channels and have slow data rates (think 1hz or 0.5Hz refresh instead of 5Hz or 10Hz).

It's $80 for a device that occupies your OBD-II port and automatically disables annoyances. It doesn't take 3 pages of "expert" comments to decide whether or not you want that.
