Wish I could take credit for the phrase, but it is a common term in Lemons racing. The "splodin" part is sometimes fairly literal...

Am I correct in understanding this device also still leave ABS functional?

My problem is waiting for the engine to warm up to do the dance. I like the idea of a device that forces the car into to no nannies mode. While this version does not suit my data logging needs, I'm guessing there are plenty of people that would be quite happy with this one.

If that's one of the cases, I usually go 10% on warm-up lap to make sure everything gets up to temp and pull into the hot pit. Shut off, start up, do pedal dance, and go back out. It also allows some people to get out of the way for me so I can run some cleaner laps.

Most of the time I start up the car 5 minutes early and drive around the paddock to make sure everything else is warmed up. I have a LSD too.

Pulling into the pits is a pretty good idea. I normally start my car 15 minutes early, get it warm, get the pedal dance done, get my harness on (ish), get to grid, start my camera, get my helmet on, get the harness tight... then I'm ready. Those minutes seems to tick by pretty fast.

For:
1/ Saves time doing pedal dance. Yay! I have an extra 10 seconds to play with!
2/ Reduces weight of wallet therefore increasing power to weight. (Ok, I know strictly speaking it's power to mass.)
3/ Has bragging rights before the prang on the street and automatically disappears from conversation after.

Against:
1/ Can't use Aim OBD connection.
2/ Of limited practical use to me given the expertise I have in pedal dancing. To become as proficient as me just watch some Riverdance clips. Music is optional.
3/ Device doesn't come in colour options so there is little chance of getting it to match my racing underwear. You know the ones? Its the type with the brown racing stripe down the middle at the back.

You all know they have OBD2 splitters on the market, right?

It was already said in this thread that data loggers don't work with OBD splitters.

Never heard of that. I can imagine if both accessories needed 12v, that the draw might be too much. They do have dongles with added 12v out there, though...

its not about voltage, its about communication protocols.

Recommendation for product update:

Same device with an output to a switch and the device itself is a pass through so there's still an OBDII port to plug into for data logging.

Car's OBDIIport->Device w/ switch and female OBDII port on it->whatever else you want to plug into the OBDII port (like data logging).

This way, you leave the device plugged in and just the act of flicking the switch turns the pedal dance function on/off but the device accepts another OBDII connector and it's data to flow through it into the computer.

Everyone wins.

Sounds Good. Could you give some more detail about the switch and setup
Thx
