I get the frustration @churchx, but I have to admit it's a grey area since the OFT shifted across to using the romraider definitions. Primarily, my aim was to set up the repository (or at least, fork the original Merp repository) for open source users.
I've had not issue with OFT as a commercial product piggy-backing on the RR definitions (and I haven't had any negative feedback from the rest of the dev team at RR) - in fact, I've worked quite a bit with Shiv on getting new definitions out, LC/FFS etc. - but fundamentally, the repository is for opensource - I would not want the responsibility of managing commercial expectations, it's also complicated by the naming convention that the OFTs have adopted, as mentioned above. |

Whomever would use to place there definitions, commercial or not .. isn't main thing that common and agreed upon place to get latest and fullest set would benefit _users_?
If under commercial expectation you thought not something Richard Stalman-ish but rather something like cheap voluntary hosting with no guarantees on availability, then anyone should be able to have also local copies/mirror. Still common place would be nice to have, as one to point to 'by default' others or from where to use latest by oneself over local copies. Still, whatever is made, but resource will be only as essential as many influential persons on OFT / RR tuning scenes will agree on using it. Otherwise - just yet another alternative source to already existing ones, and in such case it would be better off without adding one more. |

Agreed - a central point is useful - like Github, which is why the OS crowd uses it. That being said, if you're selling a product, like OFT, you need control - which a distributed platform like Github is the antithesis of.

Anyone have any concerns that disabling port injection from 5200 to 7200 will increase valve deposits typically associated with direct injection, or is running it in only the lower RPMs enough to take care of that?

IIRC the main cause of the intake valve deposits is due to EGR. Since that doesn't occur at those RPM then it'd be less of a worry.

bumping that 20% high load port injection cut in to 7200 from 5200 will be a very small drop in total port injection run time unless it a race car. it makes no difference if your on high quality fuel but my south africian friends were able to add back in about 4 degrres of timing and gained almost 8 kw from that mod on 95 ron fuel which is about your 89 aki, thats the best they have |

@Kodename47 @steve99 thanks guys. I have a PCV catch can so I probably shouldn't even be concerned regardless. Our 91 octane also sucks, so I'm running some modified IAT compensation and Wayno's smoothed Base Timing B. With all of that and running the Port Injection ratios, I'm hoping to be pretty knock free with solid IAM.
I'm going to be logging for MAF scaling this week so I'll be posting logs too, I'd love your guys' opinions as I go through the process. |

Has there been any changes to knock sensor sensitivity at all from stock rom in these tunes? I used to attribute a light clank noise i got on rev match downshift on stock 98 garbage tune as being engine knock. I still get the sound sometimes on v80 e85 tune even though I have actually logged the car extensively while hearing the sound with IAM solid at 1 and FBLK and FLCK at 0. they never budge. Just really curious

so I started off with your Base Timing B, some IAT Compensation, and the injector ratios, and I was completely knock-free after running it for ~100 miles. Running well but when datalogged, still running rich everywhere like previously mentioned.
I then did closed loop and open loop maf scaling, came out with a scale slightly richer than the stage 1 maf scaling, but matches shape-wise. At the same time I added the UEL load limits. It feels a lot peppier lower RPM high load, but I'm seeing significant knock (over 1 degree correction)in a few spots throughout the rev range. I feel like the timing increase/leaner AFR from the load limits combined with the leaner maf scale may be causing this. Will post a datalog soon, but my question is, do the load limits effects only come in when you hit them? |

Yep, but for example if you're running 20 deg and the ecu is pulling 1, instead of before when you were running 15, you're still 4 deg ahead. Also, not all headers behave the same, that's why there's a less intrusive example limits for revworks. Also, that's why you start with a maf scale you know is smooth, then get that 2000-4500 area the correct shape with load limits, then do your maf scaling. Otherwise you'll spike afr's with the scale or limits or both and will take longer to figure out the actual cause. It's all academic, you only need to get it in the ballpark, other tuners run that area much leaner than openflash do and the ecu will ensure no knock, so don't stress too much.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. It's all coming together! I'll keep datalogging and working on it, and when it's finally dialed in I'll post a before and after from OTS-->modified.

I have read through both this extensive guide as well as the other guide posted by Wayno and wow, it is pretty informative. I am completely new to tweaking tunes and I have a few questions regarding it. Since I am in California and only have access to 91AKI here, what tables are "safe" for me to copy over from the examples to the OTS tune? I'm assuming that the O2 rescaling, MAF scaling, load limits, DI range, and the utility tweaks are safe considering they don't have specific tables that rely on 98RON? and am I understanding correctly that timing shouldn't have to be touched on the OTS ROM for 91AKI unless I am knocking? I just want to make sure that I have my facts correct before logging and making changes.
