Aftermarket lug nuts on stock wheels: confirm?
Can someone please confirm 100% if you can use aftermarket lug nuts on the stock wheels or not?
I searched for an old thread and it was inconclusive. Thanks

Thinking about it though, I'm not 100% sure that Subaru uses rounded/ball type lug nuts, some OEMs use conical and I haven't bothered to ever look at my OEM lugnuts.. So if the OEM lugnuts have a flat mating surface instead of rounded, you'll be fine. So check first, if Subaru uses conical style lugnuts then aftermarket conical ones will work fine. I'm so used to Hondas that I instantly think ball seat instead of tapered.

Yeah, OEM Subaru = 60degree conical seat.
Can't use nice OEM wheels from other makes unless one finds proper lugs in 12x1.25 with a proper ball seat radius. Been trying to find some for OEM VW BBS wheels w/R13 ball seats to no avail. |

Hrmm, another photo opportunity? Let's do it.
Although the cone is shallower, looks like a fit to me. These are Muteki SR35 lugs. 20121016-86_Lugnuts_M12x125-03 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20121016-86_Lugnuts_M12x125-01 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20121016-86_Lugnuts_M12x125-02 by VictorN07, on Flickr

Assuming said OEM wheel lock is a proper cone seat lug nut (which is a safe assumption), yes.

Conical seat lugs will work perfectly fine on Subaru wheels since Subaru uses a conical seat. Believe me. I've used Gorilla aftermarket lugs on stock WRX wheels and then RallyXed them. It's perfectly ok to use them on our stock wheels.
