CEL came on and turned off on its own?

So I noticed my CEL came on. Didn't have a chance to take it to the dealer but it turned off in 2 days or so. Should I still take it in?

Mods:
Full Nameless Performance exhaust (could the catless headers be the cause?)
TRD Intake
Raceseng Pulley Kit
DSS Carbon Fiber Driveshaft
Kartboy Short Shifter Kit
Carbon Fiber Trim (<-- the most likely culprit)

One of the later ECU updates established a minimal self-correction capability, so there's a good chance the car fixed itself.

That's totally not true, by the way.

Which part isn't true? Because you have potentially crushed my dreams. On the day before my birthday.

my car throws the code p0352 every now and then. Its just for my #2 ignition coil. Once CEL goes on, the car goes in limp mode until the CEL turns off. Itll turn off after i restart my car 4-5 times.

Could be your gas cap. If it's not on all the way, the computer will throw a code. It'll go away once you close the cap. Did you get gas in those two days? Or before the light came on?

Yes catless headers will generally cause intermittent CEL P0420 (cat efficiency) unless your tune disables that code in rom (ecu)

but it could be something else.

by a cheap scantool or something to read codes and see which code it is.

If you take it to dealer and it is the P0420 code they will likely charge you for diagnostics as problem caused by your headers. If it something else not related to mods then you will be fine.

Put the original exhaust on the car and see if the cel go out.
If cel are off, then its the aftermarket exhaust.

came here, totally not disappointed. good job OP.

now go to autozone and borrow their reader to look at the stored codes

@effty_ac I guess I missed the post where someone else suggested you take it to an auto parts store and use their code reader for free to pull the stored codes before you take it to the dealership, sorry bro

^Was that part really necessary? I obviously didn't know about "pulling codes" which is why I was asking for advice. I guess it was hard to see your extremely helpful, original, and life changing advice through your witty and hilarious sarcasm. You took extra time out of your day to take a jab before giving advice. Where's the sense in that, man?

For those of us who regularly read our codes ourselves, it's such a simple thing that we forget that not everyone knows how to do it. It's amazingly simple, and it will not only assist you in getting message board help, but it can also prevent you from being charged for repairs you don't need by an unscrupulous shop.

As has been mentioned, you have the option of going to an auto parts store and getting your codes read for free. The computer will store the code even after the light has gone off, so you can see what it was doing even if it's not doing it any more.

You can also pick up an OBDII Bluetooth adapter from Amazon for around $10, then download Torque into your Android device for around $5. Then you can read your codes yourself for the rest of your life for less than $20 total. I use Torque in both my vehicles and love it.

Either way, once you know what code it was throwing, you can post that in the thread, and somebody will probably be able to give you a good idea of what was causing it and/or where to start to try to fix it.
