There's a Japanese racing based company I can't for the life of me remember that made an exhaust system which made the 86 sound pretty much like that classic 5-valve 4AGE race motor... was sweet sounding. Having zero success finding it now.

You mean this thread and your posted vid there with Auto Factory exhaust? Sounds nice, yeah. Though Ace is fine too. Not fan of low pitch UEL burble either, would pick high-pitch "racy" sound over bassy burble every time. Later associates with american muscle, and twins are everything but that.

Not my type of exhaust, but that's the highest pitch exhaust I've seen for these cars which is what OP wanted.

I actually prefer the UEL rumble to the typical Honda angry bee sound. 4 cyl engines just don't make great noises.

I'm not opposed to high pitched sounding exhaust on high revving engines. They can sound fantastic, if they dont sound like tin cans. It's that kinda hollow sound, like something is rattled loose or you're making engine noises into a trash can. lol

Example of a beautiful sounding high pitched exhaust (angry swarm of bees):

Yeah definitely love the sound of high revving engines. The onboard motorcycle footage you linked sounds great, for example. Looks to be 6 cylinders? And the V10 LFA at 9000 RPM is glorious.

But most uncorked 4 cyl Honda engines sound like ass from the outside. Something about having just 4 cylinders makes the exhaust noise sound awful. And even worse when it's tinny like you mentioned.

Yes, that's the maker... though I remember there was a better video that sounded even better which doesn't exist anymore... one of those videos I wish I had saved.

Yes 6 cylinder CBX1000. There are some unpleasant sounding 6 cylinder cars too. Some of the new BMW cars. Sound like tin cans, but at least they are very fast tin cans. lol

MY18 BRZ + second hand ACE headers + Berk catted/custom resonated frontpipe. I have some headers to subframe rubbing issues and seems the berk frontpipe contributes on this, it pulls somehow the headers back as if it is shorter than OEM frontpipe.
I am thinking of gut the OEM frontpipe and fit it in place of the berk one so I don't have to change my maps.
From your experience how much noisy the gutted OEM frontpipe will be compared with stock/catted frontpipe?

I have read the header makes the most difference to the sound of the exhaust. So I would guess an equal length long tube header like the Nameless, JDL 4-2-1, or ACE 350 would probably get you the closest to the sound you are looking for.

Where is it hitting?

Where the overpipe sits?

Top or bottom?

Post pics of witnesses marks.

Lossen the flanges and see if you can move it a little bit, maybe???

Hit the exhaust with a hammer and make some clearance, maybe????

Until I know where the clearance issue is it's hard to make any type of call.

As for the frontpipe, depends on power levels really, decatted OEM for NA, I would still put a resonator where the cat was, but, for convenience, I would just get a twin resonated 2.5" front pipe to keep the drone at bay.

It seems the overpipe rubs against the subframe right and back cause frontpipe pulls it slightly, usually on acceleration from stop and rarely on right hand corners.
I tried with no luck to pull it the opposite direction when fitting it but now I am thinking to fit a resonator in place of the OEM cat

This setup sounds just about perfect, imho.
