BRZ Key Fob trunk button

Hello all! I just took delivery of my 2016 BRZ this week tuesday and I am loving it so far! I do have a question that I cant seem to figure out. The trunk button on my key fob does not open my trunk? I know about the lockout button inside the trunk and tried messing with it. However, it doesnt fix my problem. The trunk release inside the car works as well as the button on the trunk itself, just not the button on my fob. I went to the dealership and they informed me that the trunk relise botton on the key fob is not suposed to work.... is this true? Thank you!

also, read the manual :P

finally, the car can be configured to not respond to the trunk open button on the key. But it shouldn't be that way by default. You can change this setting with a bluetooth OBDII dongle and appropriate app.

I've never came across a remote where you don't need to hold down the button for the trunk release in the last two decades.

To be fair, could be his first car. This was my first car and I didn't know I had to hold it either (but I read the entire manual while getting all the papers done, out of anticipation lol)

You can also set it so you don't have to do a long hold through tech steam or Christa.

Glad you figured yours out. Mine was baffling to me and the salesman, and even the service department. They finally realized that the lockout button in the trunk was pushed in. Never had a car with THAT feature before!

Could be worse, it could be the parking light issue on older Subaru's.
