That's normal for wide-ish angle lenses typically used by vloggers etc.
I rarely see videos where the FoV of the camera lens is close to how humans normally see things.

Some of the photos of the '17 BRZ on the Subaru website were also taken with wide angle lenses.
I was convinced that the car looked "too busy, too many conflicting lines" until I saw it in person.
Now '17-'20 BRZ is considered one of (if not the) the best designs among twins

So what's the bottom line for someone deciding whether to add headers and suspension mods (and/or FI...) to their lightly modded '13 or upgrade to the 2022? Is that difference worth ~10k more for the 2022 (current2013+mods=10k vs 2022less2013 =20k)?

That's completely up to you. No one else can tell you what it's worth to you.

I'm trying to decide between going crazy on a '22 GR86 or buying a '13-'16 Boxster S, or buying a Supra and keeping it stock.

I would say, between a mild FI or 2022 (if the performance is the key), I would wait until Aftmkt do some work on the 2.4L and then decide (leaning towards 2022). I was waiting for the 2.4L to buy my BRZ but they delayed, so, I am in a similar situation, but for me is hard to make a decision without numbers/testing/driving.

Money wise, the old one + mods has less room for depreciation,
whereas a new one can and will depreciate quite a lot in its first few years.

Performance wise, 2022+ will have a much higher ceiling. And hopefully reliability compared to a tuned 2013 with the same power output.

I might be crazy, but I'd love a mode that reduces (or even removes) the assist (like a custom drive mode or no-assist track mode).
I once accidentally lost power steering (long story/user error) and I didn't mind it!

Variable user-selectable assist does sound like a great idea to me. All the way off would probably be pushing it though

Especially after doing some minor weight reduction.
Compression should remain the same at 12.5:1 according to Toyota. In the end, we will see which one is correct, but 13.5:1 sounds a bit too good to be true and should theoretically make a good bit more power than that.

Do you have the mod bug? Could you actually keep something stock. I bought both my subarus new and modded them. This is the most expensive because I took all the depreciation. But subies are not that expensive, relatively. If I had to do it over I might have bought the BRZ used and modded it and I would certainly have spent far less. Especially since it’s my daily and will see many miles.

I personally don’t think the 22 will be an earth-shattering difference. But if you are at the time to buy go for it. I would wait for a used one ideally. When they come around I will try to drive one and see. Driving one could sway you one way or the other. I have sat in cars and said I need this, and I have sat in cars and felt meh.

No joke, I drove both Supra models on track the same day I rode in the new 86. I legit hated the Supra. Zero feel, too much isolation and while it's absolutely freaking fast, didn't make me happy at all.

It was a bit quieter in terms of NVH. The engine sounds wildly different but I suspect it was artificial engine noise through the sound system. It sounded synthetic. This is my speculation, not fact but just relaying what it sounded like to my ears.

When Todd bought his, I was the FRS guru that brought him up to speed with the platform as I had a 3yr head start, lol.

I retain the title since I had mine in 2013 and still have it, haha.
