It's $525 installed...not a bad price. Still could be $525 wasted but we need to get some dyno results to verify if this is a scam TRD product or not...

Yeah Dyno result or MAF reading log with the ecutek cable.
We should start some MAF reading data base of all intake as many have ecutek cable it should be easy to make some log's comparing to their OEM airbox.

Somebody in another thread was datalogging with the Torque app a stock FR-S, but was getting some pretty interesting reading on the CFM through the MAF. Something like 960 CFM, which just possibly be correct. Also a VE of 130+%. This is why I would like to see these intakes on a flow bench. But I don't know anybody who has one, and I'm too lazy to pull my intake off anyway...

I've been trying to find the results, but all I can find is that used a bench to simulate airflow through the MAF.

Pressure drop is what matters.. If there is no or very little pressure drop with the stock system, there will be no gains from going to a "higher flowing" system. Of course the less the system can flow the greater the pressure drop would be. Ideally, having both sets of measurements (pressure drop and flow bench data) would paint a very clear picture.

I already ordered a digital manometer but they sent me the wrong dam thing... I'm gonna try to do a pressure drop measurement after the maf (time limited) to see how much drop there is in the stock setup as a whole.

No they are all official Scion/Toyota parts.

The 5 axis kit is actually promoted by Scion and has a dedicated website.

Remember that the MAF doesn't read the actual airflow through the pipe, it's just a measured value that the ECU uses. Hence using a bigger or smaller pipe won't increase airflow but makes the MAF read a different value fooling the ECU to change the fuel input. That's why the Injen makes the power it does on a stock car.

The TRD seems to keep the MAF on the airbox and on the same size section and I'd assume they'd keep the air straighteners which will help. Having the tube behind the filter rather than a 90 degree bend like the OEM may mean that MAF reading will be changed again, whether this is beneficial though would have to wait and see.
@mad_sb has the right idea and those results I'd like to see. I have MAP readings for my setup, I'd like to see OEM ones to compare though.

RIP OFF price inc.
I think this has a very novel design but the simplicity is throwing you guys off. Like some have mentioned:

1. Straight tube has less impedance than a 90 degree elbow (which is what most other aftermarket CAIs have).
2. Larger area filter for greater intake volume sucking cold air from outside the engine bay.
3. Accordion tube. Not sure the technical benefit but it adds a coolness factor because apparently Ferrari rally cars use it.
4. Way easier to change/clean the filter compared to most aftermarket CAIs.

the accordion tube just allows the engine to do it's thing and rock side to side while the airbox stays attached to the core support. Not 100% necessary but from an oem perspective it's good protection against the boot workings it's way loose from the airbox or throttle body.

Thanks for clarifying. That explains the accordion features on the stock tube as well.
