Do what you want. I'm waiting on some 19's as well. Yes the gears will be tall but that can be offset by the gear reduction that some people are already installing. If you can get the correct offset on wheels you can install 235/35/19's in the front and 275/30/19 in the rear. Virtually the same diameter between the two. Of course they are taller than stock. so what

Um, no. Square on an 8.5 and a 9.5 will either stretch in the back or if the back is no stretch the front will be ballooning. And even if you just square on the front and stretch the back a bit, the fuel econ and steering will be horrible for a DD. That said, 255/35r18 would do the trick...

Are you a fan of understeer? Why would you want to run an inch wider out back? Just run the same size wheel and tire all the way around--then you have the advantage of being able to easily rotate your tires.

Then you need the same width of wheels.

Square tire setup and different size tires front and rear? Your stupidity doesn't entitle you to be a prick.

Did you not read what was just said? He meant "no stretch" when he said square. So you calling him stupid is pretty ignorant.

I'll offer a retraction of previous statement IF I was the one to read the poorly communicated wording wrong, AND the OP meant a square shoulder setup and NOT square tire. Huge difference considering square tires means not staggered...

i didnt ask if i should run square wheels vs staggered telling me to get square wheels is not relevant to my question, by square i meant not stretching the tires for either rim

How to maintain stock wheel/tire diameter with 17x7.5

THE BACKGROUND:
I'm looking to keep my BRZ pretty much stock. The only mod will be the exhaust (Perrin resonated). I can't lower the car for a few reasons which all relate to the fact that I live in Canada and I need to drive in the snow/ice/salt.

Since this means I need snow tires, I'm planning on putting a set on the stock rims once these tires wear out. But this means that I'll need to get some rims for the summer, and some summer tires.

THE QUESTION:
If I move up to 17x7.5 wheels from the stock 17x7, will 215/45/17 tires (Yokohama AD08) maintain the same diameter as they would on a 17x7 set, or would it end up stretching and making the wheel/tire smaller as a whole?

Also, any ideas on what looks good on a black BRZ when the car can't benefit from a drop? I figure that the move from 7 to 7.5 opens up some more options.

Thanks.

I put some Toyo R1R 235/40/17 on the stock rims. It looks amazing, closed the gap between the tire and the body line. The tire is just smaller then the stock tire so it doesn't mess with any settings. Plus the handling is amazing.
