You should be around those numbers on the JB Precision turbos. Precision under rates there turbos. You should see some base kit numbers soon as I know a couple of cars have opted to go this route and they will be installing soon.

Is there quality worse then Garrett? Should I be worried in the sense you get what you pay for?

Precision makes good stuff. I am not very familiar with their JB turbos as I have only ran their BB stuff. By any means don't think precision is bad. You're still buying a quality name. The thing you will see is a spool difference in the JB vs BB on the street. Either way for your goals the JB turbo that comes with the base kit should meet your goals. A lot will depend on your tuner

Thanks for the info. Now I just gotta get the $$$ together. One more question. The base kit has a dump pipe correct? Will this make the kit loud? I am trying to keep a low profile being in CA. Don't need to draw attention to myself with a boosted car.

The dump tube will only make a lot of noise when you're actually under boost. It'll be just as quiet as a recirculated unit when you're cruising past the po po like you should be

Sincerely,

Zach

Does JDL have a recirculated option?

Yes I have recirculated on mine. They charge a bit more and it is a tight fitment during install but personally I prefer having an extremely quiet car even under boost. Most people prefer having a "screamer" pipe (aka open dump). I would imagine the kit turbo being well within reason for our goals. It should easily break 300+HP on pump gas with a good flowing exhaust considering how high our compression is. I have two cars I am putting on the dyno at the end of the month that bought the kit turbo so I can get some numbers. Most of us upgraded because we have unrational goals. I personally have a built engine so the kit turbo is a tad small to match up with my engines potential.

I may as well join in as well...

Hopped on the dyno for some quick testing. Only had about 20 minutes so I didn't get to push the car much. E30 fuel (I hadn't finished flushing back to E10) EL kit with recriculted dump, GTX3071 0.63 tial, 3" DP OP FP (resonated) stock midpipe and a muffler delete. In comparison to lower boost I was running ~320WHP on crawfords dyno last week on 8.5-9.5PSI. This plot was somehwere around 12-14 PSI

I need a damn exhaust... It seemed like I was spooling quite a bit better with only an overpipe (no exhaust) than now. Currently running the same boost level on 91 octane and 3-4PSI higher and on E85, ill eventually get back on the dyno for some final numbers.

Mine is also recirculated. It's mostly personal preference but I have just never really been a big fan of open dump. I'll post some decent pictures of mine shortly. I will also scan the dynos that Jesse took a quick phone pic of yesterday while I was there.

The spool on this gtx2863r is simply nutty on the street. It takes literally no throttle to wanna go NOW. It's as if there really is no such thing as driving in vacuum anymore haha.
