I got the Perrin CAI kit plus their intake hose during a Black Friday sale at Rally Sport Direct. I was previously using the stock airbox with a K&N oiled filter, and had a Vishnu Stage 1 1.34beta tune on the car for both the filter and the CAI. No MAF issues and I didn't have to do anything special to get rid of a CEL.

I don't have access to a dyno so I have no idea what gains, if any, the filter or the CAI made over stock. What I can say is that between removing the airbox and the piping for the sound generator there's a ton more space in the engine bay. And the induction sound produced by the intake is incredible. I don't care about any theoretical HP gains.

Ditto. I am here to help not waste my experience and time with "just search". I understand some stuff on here can be redundant but oh well. Noobs! this forum seems very user friendly. Unlike some of the other crap forums I belonged to which "flame" everyone for questions. Ask away! Some will get pissed and some will be more than willing to help out. I actually like being annoyed with questions so please feel free

You being a ****/ignorance needs to be brought to light. Ive never seen someone demand shit and call someone out just because they didnt give you your dyno's on a silver platter for you. When more than 1 person tells you that their was a huge discussion on the topic maybe you should just learn to drop it and listen to them. And I do hope you changed since then.

Ill do whatever I want and what bugs me the most is when people like you come into these forums acting like we owe you something.

You're so caught up in a personal vendetta against me that you've got no idea what you are talking about. I have nothing against you and I do not care for what you have to say so stop polluting this thread with whatever issues you have with me and stop quoting me from old stuff I dont even care about.

I have a k&n filter, a silicon intake tube to delete the noise generator, a plug on the intake box to get rid of the extra resonator, and i shorted the snorkel. overall cost about $80 and worth every cent. sounds great and definitely the car feels better

Take the snorkel out. Hack it up. Picture is the best way to describe what to do. It should look something like that

however like a lot of these threads we don't have solid dyno data to back up the claims

the only one who publish a solid gain with an optimised tune for both setups ( stock and CAI) is Perrin

and I've yet to see that backed up by some member on here

its always muddied with some other parts or it didn't have a tune on the stick parts etc etc

like what others have said fit a decent drop in filter and leave it there - although these probably need a tune as well......

There was a member who installed a Zeek intake duct & elbow who managed to gain 4 HP at the very top while losing as much as 15 lbs./ft. Throughout much of the RPM range.

I used to say this was one of those "can't hurt" mods. Now I'm not so sure.

For anyone that cares. The STOCK AIR BOX(not intake) is VERY good.
COMPARED to my TRD USA it has slightly less torque(few Nm) around that dip and about 1-2hp less hp at higher revs.

How do I know? I had to switch back to stock airbox after HKS Type-S oil filter install(TRD USA air box won't work with it).

I'd say.. stick with the stock airbox, change out to a NON-OILED panel filter(like AVO) or the pink TRD JP replacement($100 or so - CONSUMABLE, non-reusable).
Most of the F/I kits for these cars still utilize the stock airbox so it's a no brainer.

As for the comparison between stock accordion snorkel vs the Perrin Silicon intake tube.. didn't get any dyno reading on that bit. Maybe some other kind soul will spend their money and do some R&D for us..

Some guys were quick here lol.
1)Perrin Intake Tube (removes sound tube and resonator)
2)CAREFULLY remove reviets on the big resonator on the airbox. Take some heavy duty cutter and cut the rivets on the inside so you wont have to drill them out) Go to an auto store and expanding rubber plug or get a fancy Genome Tuning delrin or stainless steel plug.
3) See the modified snorkel that one of the guys posted.
4) Get a drop in air filter. I recommend an UPGR8 filter. Cheap and quality.

Thats about it!

Hold on, for what I have read around... removing the resonator doesn't help the stock intake, It can even make everything worse.

The intake is like a tuned circuit. I have been told by those who know that there was a significant amount of Engineering work put into it.

Any of you who have ever done serious work on porting speaker boxes should understand the impact that a correct port has on a box. The intake on this car is very similar in function.

That said, I put a SC on mine, so whatever. :P
