Superbird: the other teams got butthurt and made NASCAR change the rules.

wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Superbird

NASCAR's rules implemented for the 1971 season limited the "aero-cars" to an engine displacement of no greater than 305 cu in (5.00 l) or they had to carry much more weight compared to their competitors. While they were still legal to race, the power-to-weight consequences that would come with the smaller engine or the increased weight rendered the cars uncompetitive. This was the start of a trend of rules slowing down NASCAR, because the races were exceeding the technology of tires and safety over 200 mph (320 km/h).

Still garish garnish on a brick.

Now THAT brings to mind, one warm, sunny, spring, Saturday afternoon, I borrowed my parents new, 1959 Chevrolet kindswood station wagon.

I picked up my steady girl (who was 15) (I was 16) and found this short road to nowhere, off the highway.

Welp, things were going according to plan, when there was a loud knock on the side window ....... and there stood a huge Ohio State Patrolman.

He asked for my drivers license and her ID (all she had was a girl scout card).

When he said he was going to contact her parents, we pleaded for my life. Her father was an Air Force Colonel and her mother was an alcoholic.

He turned us lose with a verbal warning ......... my lucky day .......
