I had a 1990 miata modded to hell and before I got a high paying job I always told myself my next brand new car would be a new Miata... until I actually went and sat in it. Freaking thing is all plastic inside except the seats, it has a laughable CD unit, no comforts at all, lower power than the FRS and costs more than what I paid for my 10 series. There is no freaking reason at all to buy the current NC model at the price they ask for it

X2, I was going to say IMO, the FR-S is a better buy. You get more power, room, and it looks way better.

Having owned an NC Miata (for 88,000 top down miles), I will agree with that ....

However, there are just some places and some days days, that a top down roaster, ...... just can't be beat.

the economy is recovering? this is to blame for low sales of a specific car?

so the economy is bad and may or may not be to blame to slow sales for the miata. but that still doesnt change the fact that it currently has low sales. its also cheaper than the twins and it still selling bad. and yes i know the miata is an old design, but im just saying.

Meh, I don't think Nissan knows what it needs to do anymore. That they are bad mouthing only shows that they feel like idiots for leaving behind a niche that they once enjoyed being a part of. Nissan hasn't put out anything since the 350Z that has been interesting (minus the GT-R) to me. And I hate that they force CVT's into everything.

"Take your gt86, FRS, ft86, brz and go back to Asia, come back with some horsepower and not body kits next time."

That's what the real quote was.

Looks like Nissan copied a Dodge Challenger and riced it. Never have liked Nissan's looks, unless you go back to the 240Z. Other than that, meh. All miss the mark on style points IMO. Unless it's got gobs of power, that won't outsell the FT86 models. Plus, nissans never have as good of aftermarket offerings as Toyotas.

I agree, but would choose a Z4 instead.

Well now, I'll agree that the Z4 is a fine driving machine ..... but it costs about twice as much as my "first" mid-life crisis car (the miata) .....

Meh. The 240sx with the ka24de had 155 HP as early 23 years ago and as late as 16 years ago...in America. Overseas versions with the sr20det (180sx) had slightly over 200 HP...again, two decades ago. I think Nissan has every right to joke about our cars "only" having 200 HP. Subaru isn't paying me to be defensive of their engines.

And the S15 was around 250hp.

A stock production car with the steering and handling feel of the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 and 250hp or more is exactly what everyone in this niche wants. Why can't any company give it to us? :[
