There is another post floating around here where Subaru posted an update to technicians explaining that this "chirping" is part of the dual DI/Port injection system and is completely normal. There is some pretty high pressure fuel injection going on here and the noise is the DI system managing that pressure.

Unless I'm thinking of a different one, that explained the ticking sound, which is normal.

Mine makes a faint whistling noise too. It first I thought it was the EGR system bleeding out of my Cusco catch tank, but not sure.
I am suspecting that its either that or some high capacity line of 4D-S system. Regardless, I doubt it is a malfunction of any sort. I'll keep posted if you I hear anything from Toyota side of things.

mine does it too i am sure it is normal we are all overreacting cause it is new and we dont want anything wrong with it...

Yes, and they are full of shit or explaining away a different sound than the cricket.

Did you guys not listen to the 2 videos back to back? If it's normal, they ALL would do it. Clearly this is not the case because of the video where no cricket noise is heard. Why doesn't that car/video do it?

Honda refused to acknowledge the 3rd gear grind for a year or more, what makes Subaru any different when admitting to screw ups?

My car does it. Every other BRZ I'm come across does it.

The situation only presents itself after the car has been driving for some time. My commute typically runs about 90 minutes every day and I can tell you that after each run, the sound can be heard.
