Maybe but the ATS is 3315Lbs minimum weight. The Cruze SS was targeted at sub 3100Lbs due to less luxury items. Plus it would be considerably cheaper. The AWD version could give the WRX a run for its money. I rented Corolla Ss on two vacations in the last year. When it came time to buy the wife a car I got her a Cruze. Much nicer than the Corolla. It is a great basic transportation and road trip car. Very solid and great quality. I would be very tempted to get a SS if they built the thing.

How's that possible? The regular Cruze already weighs more than that.

Curb weight of 2014 Cruze manual is 3084 lbs. There are no specific details on what weight savings measures they would take to offset the AWD. For the estimated base price of around $30K there should be some lightweight material to replace standard stuff. The concept was shown in 2012 as a 2014 model. It is not here yet and may never be but if they build it I would be one of the first in line to test drive one.

Even if we don't get the Type-R here, this might be a good engine for people looking to use Honda engines for swaps where they might add a turbo anyway. It'd be something I'd look into after my F22c gets worn out.

Honda has repeatedly stated they are devoted to FWD cars. And neckbeard, pony loving, euphoric athiests can't drive standard.

At least we get the hatchback. Damn CAFE favoring vehicles with large interior volume. I look at the new Mazda3 hatch with mixed feelings. I liked the old Nagare style but I absolutely love the Skyactiv engines. |

When I got back and actually walked around the car the front looked wonderful. The back has no personality at all; it's just vague and amorphous. I was expecting a lot more, especially after the previous design had such a defined back end. I ended up with a BRZ. |

Listen @WolfpackS2k.
No one said that states didn't have the same emission requirements. The post I made was that each state had its own Laws and regulations when it comes to emissions. Which they do. Yes... states vary when it comes to inspection time. Gues what, Many states have the same inspection process! And yes. They do not have anything to do with the manufacturing process. BUT manufacturers consider those laws and regulations when designing the product. I like feeding trolls on occasion, so here yah go. |

New tarbo Honda engine with high output is only good things for enthusiasts, no it's not revolutionary but it's a step forward for Honda which has been pretty stagnant for the last decade, no it may not directly lead to a true enthusiast car but fat healthy companies are the ones that put out the cool stuff. Edit: Hot hatch market is on fire, even more so if you don't need the hot version. Mazda 2/3, Ford Focus/Fiesta, Abarth, GTI/Golf, Veloster, Mini, TC, Impreza/WRX('14) and I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two worth mentioning (Fit/Versa/Yaris). Maybe Honda can seriously jump back into this market with this engine. |
