New Type R will have a 280HP 2.0:confused0068:
Ok, Subaru/Toyota, you've been put on notice, now show us the goods!

Still won't buy FWD though :bonk:

It's turbocharged. Subaru has been making 280 HP turbo 2.0L engines since the early '90s.

Edit: '94 for the original WRX STi (271 bhp), '96 for the GC8D WRX (280 bhp).

Not gonna lie, I like the styling. But FTW is not my favorite.

It's turboed........... but if honda really wanna do it they can probably push for 230-235 NA no problem.

Honda was doing that in 1999 with the S2000. I'd hope they can do better by now. Actually, they were pushing 247 bhp for the Japanese market.

Head over to NASIOC or RS25. You can find a GC8 STi-swapped 2.5RS for sale, I'm sure. Try to find one with an STi v5 drivetrain.

edit: and the impreza will look better, too!

Although a swapped 2.5rs would be cool, I'm not considering the Honda. I'm trying to pick a 2015 BRZ soon. I posted this just to compare 2 liters in newer cars that are at similar price points/markets. Maybe someone at Subaru will say, "hey, we need to do somehting about this!" ...maybe.

Motor Trend reported on this last November. Somewhere I read that it would only be available in Europe and priced above $35K USD. I cannot find that article right now. That is a lot for a Civic. I do not care how many HP it has.

I hate to get hung over on the form (because function over form *almost* always) but that looks ridiculous in the worst possible way. How does one take themselves seriously and also drive that?

This Integra Type R is YELLOW and still looks infinitely less ridiculous.

I love how every arm chair Internet engineer says so and so has been doing it for x-amount of years keep forgetting about new more stringent emission requirements. It's not as easy as before.

I would never give up the BRZ for this Honda Civic Type R just because of that ridiculously high hood line and belt line. If I want to sit that high and upright I would just go take a dump on the crapper. Old skool Honda drivers like me are fond of the crazy low hood line and awesome visibility of yesteryears. Dam pedestrian safety laws!

The people who would drive a Civic Si and take themselves seriously usually have hats with flat brims and say things like "yolo" and "swag" a lot.

That ITR is gorgeous though.

I would agree on both accounts. But to be specific I meant the Type R version listed above...if our mutually agreed upon view of the average SI driver is as described above, what type of person would drive something as gaudy as the Civic Type R in the original post? Don't get me wrong, I bet it's a TON of fun on a track but having to deal with a car like that every day? Going to work? Sitting in traffic in that?

Think of your favorite overly ornate (maybe even luminescent) pair of shoes from elementary school. How would you feel if those were your only pair of shoes that you had to wear each time you went outside?
