I'd like to have a more powerful 2.5 NA. Maybe 250hp at the crank which can easily become 240 at the wheels with header, tune and a few other supporting mods.

I honestly think that the idea of turning this into a convertible is pointless and should never be done.

More power=more development to handle the power.
More development =more money for the entire product line
More power=lower mileage for ALL users when only 0.01% NEED more power (number of buyers who actually track the car)
More power=predatory insurance rates for ALL FRS owners.

More power is available from the aftermarket already. Why do people need it from the factory?

As to the convertible. Wrong platform. Do not like the look of the concepts I have seen. I would rather buy a Miata at that point. Matter of fact, Miata ND is on target to be the next car.

Laziness is a big part of it. Most of the people I know that are around my age with new cars like these just spend all day thinking of what part they can plastidip next.. It is very sad. The reason I probably wont do much to mine is just reliabilty. At my current rate I am putting close to 20K on my FRS per year and I NEED this thing to last lol. Besides thats what my Miata is for I cant wait for the autocross next year hehehe

But maybe they will change their minds if a couple of hundred people keep saying they want it!

Cool

I doubt any changes will come, except body styling, which might make the car look worse. I thought this car was meant to be a tuner platform...so if we want extra HP, we add it ourselves. I think the convertible option is unnecessary and will only make it slower. Toyota and Subaru will and should leave the car as is. To each their own opinion.

Toyobura needs to get off their lazy bums and give us an updated FR-S/BRZ with Porsche 918 performance and technology. It also needs to cost $35,000 USD. Until they do that, no one will be happy.
