My job can be alright at times but most of the time I fucking hate it. It pays the bills for now. When I finish school I plan to open my own office & no longer have a dumbfuck telling me what to do & making me feel like an idiot all day.

Don't know how paramedics are paid or trained in your area but where I am it's a sweet gig. Except the whole mostly boring than intense craziness thing. Best part is the time off and the money. Oh and helping people haha jk. Plus sometimes i get to drive like a maniac and not get pulled over. But where I live now people who operate the elevator at the mine make 120000 a year plus benefits and stock options.

Damn wish I was a lab tech. I'm just a normal mail courier guy that drives all day. Yea finding a job is really rough been applying to 4 jobs a week since to beginning of the year and got two interviews. It's only a matter of time before we both get a job in the engineering field. |

I love my feild! I work in Design/Engineering. Been at the same place for 7 1/2 years. Started out as a drafter straight out of Tech school and now I'm a Project lead. However, next week is my last at my current employer. I took a job at Delta Faucet Company. So starting in two weeks I get to design Faucet's, Toliets, and everything else they maunufacture.

I say go somewhere where you can learn stuff.
When I graduated college, I constantly had stress while I was looking for job. I didn't do that great in school, so there weren't many places that called me for interview. At last I got the job at Wells Fargo as securities analyst. It's a back office job where there are no customers. Just offices. Some friends and family think I'm some kind of teller, loan officer, bleh... I don't like sales. Since banking industry has A LOT of departments, I have a very good opportunity to move to different area. So... depending on your expertise, start from a big field... You'll end up meeting a lot of people from different places. Who knows, they like you, they want you. |

I've had a funny experience.
Worked as a furniture assembly man during my undergrad. Decent pay for a part time job, flexible schedule, little to no stress. Decided to focus on academia and then went into research in psychoacoustics. Terrible pay (stipend/grants), terrible hours but very, very fun. Moved on to graduate studies [neuroscience and music] overseas and after graduating was hired on as a consultant putting together therapy programs for dementia daycare centers (late stage Alzheimer Disease). Thought I had found my dream job - music, technology, & neuroscience all day every day in every way! Ended up leaving after a year because; I missed sunshine (worked in UK) and the pay was so-so, but mostly: it was incredibly depressing. Moved back to California, said I'd had had enough of academia and wanted to get into retirement asap. So I became a commercial real estate appraiser. The hours are terrible but you set them yourself (I love this), the work can be stressful and isn't necessarily consistent (I don't love this but makes life a little more exciting), and the pay is good. The work is typically dry, lots of number crunching, telephone calls, emails, and more telephone calls - report writing for several days and sifting through excel sheets for eternity but there are occasional fun or at least interesting jobs. Wouldn't mind getting into litigation work and presenting cases to grand juries. And much like a programmer; pants are optional! Except when meeting clients.. that requires pants. |

Im on the same boat as OP, I fucking hate my job. I work in a grocery store, have to deal with bs people and more and more rules they add. I love working on computers and cars. Going back to school this summer for computer science (programming, also im 21.) Lucky for me my highschool programming teacher (who also loves cars) will coach me through java and all he knows.
Though for now I hope I land this computer repair job at a local store. |
