I think something along the lines of the powertrain from the LS600h is more likely.

I think for a Supra replacement they might try something like the GRMN MR2 hybrid, but instead of a 2GR-FXE (which compromises some power for fuel efficiency) they might try a 2GR-FAE or something (hopefully with increased revs, as Honda has better specific output on their new engines!).

About time they apply Valvematic to something with more cylinders, so the "A" code sounds right, but if it's gonna be a performance engine it's gonna have to have the "G" code (likely from Yamaha tuning) too, so 2GR-GAE it shall be.

But then again that makes it sound GAEy...

i say throw in the 2ur-gse from the isf into this thing, call the lexus the sc and rebadge it as a toyota with different front fascia and call it the supra. and as colin chapman would say, "add lightness."

I have a feeling that we are going to have another FT86 long wait. By the time it comes out all the 86 owners will be looking to upgrade. Toyota version that is cheaper plz! *fingers crossed*

The other star attraction in the upcoming Lexus lineup will be the next generation SC 600h, which is due to be unveiled in mid-2014. While the current SC is scheduled to go out of production in July of this year, the new SC coupe will resurface powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 hybrid system that drives the rear wheels. Set to lock horns with the Mercedes SL, the new luxury two-door is also expected to employ the GS’s rear-wheel torque split unit.

Toyota Cancels 2011 Lexus SC

Lexus LF-A-based 2011 Lexus SC has been canned. Additionally, it looks like the 2011 Toyota Avalon may meet the same fate, replaced instead with a long-wheelbase 2012 Toyota Camry.

Originally, Lexus's plan was to develop a new SC based on the LF-A, but softened-up a bit for the colostomy-bag crowd at which the current model is targeted. However, sales of the so-ugly-it-hurts $67,120 hardtop convertible dropped 40% during the first half of 2008, necessitating a total rethink. We guess the market for a 288 HP 16-mpg city, non-performance luxury convertible isn't as big as was once thought.

Old news but it did stated that a new SC would be based on the LFA design. Also we know that the Avalon was not killed off so maybe "project SC" is still a go.

no way the production version gets a V8. it looks like the V8s are being replaced by hybrid V6s like the new GS, the exception of course is the LS.
