Convoluted? You betcha... but it's all about what will sell (i.e., market-well) to the masses in sufficient quantities (that's KEY) to ensure a steady stream of recurring revenue in the form of financing, parts and servicing (that the manufacturer hopes happens at the dealer-level..). The Scion experiment (like Saturn)... just didn't resonate with enough buyers....

Scion just happened to be given the model insted of Toyota most likely to try and re-invigorate things as the brand had been in a deep decline since 2009.
The gen 2 xB turned out to be not quirky enough for its target market and was sold mostly to middle aged value conscious consumers. It and the rest of the brand was supposed to bring in younger people in an effort to build future loyalty to Toyota.

Now with the Supra on its way Toyota can use the 86 as the bush league sports car until they are up to speed selling the new upcoming halo.

I mean it could be the end of the world tomorrow or it is kaput for me at midnight. But the troll could be right, although those socially conservative(whatever that means), I respect and value.

In the 50's, it was likely nobody knew what was going on philosophically out east(Zen as an example). Lots of tension.

Probably because the language barrier was all in the way but some guy had the balls to study eastern philosophy and I cross my fingers that the guy just stuck to a hotel.

Surely, the Scion emblem has some sort of merit?
