Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am very glad to hear that you were able to walk away with minimal injuries, makes me feel even better about our cars.

Which track was that at, Harris Hill?

Care to share any details?
How fast was he going?
On the street or race course?

There is a lot of chance involved in these crashes--If a part of the car where you AREN'T gets crushed it absorbs energy and protects you. If you happen to be where it gets crushed, not so good.

Traction control off?
Pedal dance so everything was off?

Maybe the rest of us can learn what not to do from your experience.

Pedal dance. Can't learn car control if you let it do it for you...

My biggest takeaway from the experience is not to get complacent! I did and paid for it, I was totally unprepared for it to break loose when it did so I was at least 2 steps behind throughout the recovery attempt.

I thought if you track it no matter what insurance isn't backing that up

Depends on your policy and company. I can go drive around a track all I want with full coverage. As soon as it becomes a "race" (more cars on the track that I am trying to beat) or "timed event" (where a time is recorded and I am trying to beat it even if my own time) then I am no longer covered.
