I'm sure you've got happy clients, ignorance is bliss when you don't have any proof of gains. As it stands now we've had two cars with similar mods on the same dyno under very similar conditions and seeing power loss with a torque dip that is still very much present. What is the benefit of the tune supposed to be?
Yep, good thing for ambient corrections..stop making excuses.

Nice, someone gives their first hand experience and you call them ignorant...

You are comparing the aggressive stock 98 octane map on the car to a conservative (non-dynoqueen) map that has been modified to suit 95 octane fuel.
When the stock map is being given 95 octane fuel, it will pull timing to save the engine which is why you see lower numbers.
Give it some octane and it will shine as we have seen with the 9WHP increase.

Compare and overlay the was REALLY only done on 95 octane fuel to the tuned map, then you will see the extra area under the graph and improvement in the dip.
Stop comparing apples to oranges.

You will notice that although the dip is improved in JHB, its not completely gone in all JHB graphs, unlike the coastal graphs in both DBN and Cape Town with headers and a tune...uphill battle against altitude.

Before I had tunes, the car feels and handles amazing! but after a few pulls...I realized that there are a few dead spots, sometimes the car doesn't response as I wanted it to and few weird sounds coming from the engine.

Then I met Dammod, he did a few log pulls from my car to see whats going on, and to my surprise the car was pinging and detting here and there. To be honest, I had no idea what he was talking about at that time, but simply the engine isn't tuned for our 95 pump gas and for 98.

So I decided to give Phoenix Performance map tune a try, because he did quite a few testing with the car before getting the final map.

anyways~~~ The before and after the tune, the car feels different! It feels better, the engine became more responsive, feels smoother. As for the noise from the engine, after the tune I haven't heard it since, so I guess its "Safer" than before. And I'm on stock 86, no exhaust or aftermarket filter installed.

So a serious big for Dammod and Phoenix Performance tune.

This is just my personal opinion and experience!

Key, its been a while, what millage have you done on the tune so far? Glad you are happy man!

So whats the point? I may tune my car with an international tune, it runs Im happy, you tune yours locally, it runs, you happy.

I do believe we have the local skills to tune these cars, no doubt.

the most important thing apart from peak HP numbers etc, is how the torque curve looks, I couldnt be arsed if my car is making less peak power than another, I just hate the power dip in the stock tune.

And the thing about dyno's is that unless you got a hub dyno like a dynapak etc, then there is always going to be inconsistant readings, its like trying to measure ones penis ( which is what this thread has become about) with a measuring tape made out of elastic.

I must say, It is very entertaining to read your guys threads, just wish I had more popcorn.

I agree 100% which is why this tune hasn't convinced me one bit.

Regarding some "local tuners".
To send a log to the states, wait for a file with adjustments to come back, and sent it to a client is not considered a tuner.

ps: to change the multiplier from 1 to 1.2 is also not considered tuning

I was asked for a graph that someone did privately, then everyone lost their minds

Agreed, something like this? Stock BRZ, 95 octane tune (v1) vs stock tune
Fly kw - Top End standard readout.

Same as above except with DIF

yep, I was refering to people that actually play with the maps,

not download flashers, but then still whats wrong with a download flash?

I actually want to get an OFT for my wifes 86.

I fitted an APEXI PFC in my other car, and let me tell you, NO ONE will tune it, let alone know how to tune a 2ZZGE with the adition of the lift etc.

I put on a map from the US, plugged in my datalogger, and when on the road, only needed to tweek fuel mixtures.

Agreed, but I feel there is nothing better then turning up the aircon, finding a nice hill, hitting 5th gear at 2k rpm WOT, connecting some proper detcans or a knock box and physically listening for det...something you cant do with remote tunes unless the customer has the hardware and knows what to look/listen for.
