When the stock map is being given 95 octane fuel, it will pull timing to save the engine which is why you see lower numbers. Give it some octane and it will shine as we have seen with the 9WHP increase. Compare and overlay the was REALLY only done on 95 octane fuel to the tuned map, then you will see the extra area under the graph and improvement in the dip. Stop comparing apples to oranges. You will notice that although the dip is improved in JHB, its not completely gone in all JHB graphs, unlike the coastal graphs in both DBN and Cape Town with headers and a tune...uphill battle against altitude. So whats the point? I may tune my car with an international tune, it runs Im happy, you tune yours locally, it runs, you happy.
I do believe we have the local skills to tune these cars, no doubt. the most important thing apart from peak HP numbers etc, is how the torque curve looks, I couldnt be arsed if my car is making less peak power than another, I just hate the power dip in the stock tune. And the thing about dyno's is that unless you got a hub dyno like a dynapak etc, then there is always going to be inconsistant readings, its like trying to measure ones penis ( which is what this thread has become about) with a measuring tape made out of elastic. I must say, It is very entertaining to read your guys threads, just wish I had more popcorn.

Regarding some "local tuners".
To send a log to the states, wait for a file with adjustments to come back, and sent it to a client is not considered a tuner. |
