Yep, definitely not the dyno.

The stock tune is mapped for 98 octane fuel as we all know, giving it the required fuel allows it to advance timing significantly. |

The sad reality of it is that stock cars are pushing more power than your "de-tune".

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If I could get 9whp out of LM OB - not the Speedtech stuff just the Octane+, why tune. I reckon the only way we could finish this argument is for us all to run at FR&R on the same night - on 95. |

That sounds like a fair idea. What would the excuses be after that?

The wait is so long, it'll be cool by then - just leave it standing with the bonnet open.

BRZ could lose 9WHP. As I've said, the temps were roughly the same on the evenings posted in GT86's graph. The one where he and Lenny ran were much hotter.
I'm sure you've got happy clients, ignorance is bliss when you don't have any proof of gains. As it stands now we've had two cars with similar mods on the same dyno under very similar conditions and seeing power loss with a torque dip that is still very much present. What is the benefit of the tune supposed to be?

Liqui Molly does very little but give slight octane rating which helps our kak fuel.
NF Ultra gives 9 WHP, but it seems to foul plugs. Been there and won't waste R3000 again for 9whp |

Damien, you should just challenge everyone and throw in what ever Muti you want, run and plot the cars same night on same dyno.

Yeah why not? Or keep the playing field level so we can get some actual results for comparison.

hehe, just wanted to show my appreciation to our "Local Tuners"
Before I had tunes, the car feels and handles amazing! but after a few pulls...I realized that there are a few dead spots, sometimes the car doesn't response as I wanted it to and few weird sounds coming from the engine. Then I met Dammod, he did a few log pulls from my car to see whats going on, and to my surprise the car was pinging and detting here and there. To be honest, I had no idea what he was talking about at that time, but simply the engine isn't tuned for our 95 pump gas and for 98. So I decided to give Phoenix Performance map tune a try, because he did quite a few testing with the car before getting the final map. anyways~~~ The before and after the tune, the car feels different! It feels better, the engine became more responsive, feels smoother. As for the noise from the engine, after the tune I haven't heard it since, so I guess its "Safer" than before. And I'm on stock 86, no exhaust or aftermarket filter installed. So a serious big This is just my personal opinion and experience! |

Very cool but where are the graphs? Like I've said, the placebo effect is an amazing thing.
Let me tell you a story... There was a woman who complained to the dealer that her car was making funny noises and just wasn't feeling "right". Car was booked in, filthy inside and out. They couldn't find anything wrong with it but gave it a proper clean. When she came to fetch her car they told her that they had found the problem and presented her with an invoice for R5000. She paid with a smile and went on her merry way. The dealer phoned her 2 days later asking if she was happy - she was indeed, the car going great and the noises were gone. She couldn't believe her ears when the dealer told her they had done nothing but clean the car and that she could come fetch her R5000 from them. Moral of the story - you pay your money, you want to believe. I've been in the same boat before, never again!
