Especially when the Toyota branded version available in Japan has all those features.
Its why I always felt the Scion monospec strategy was awful. There's a reason many vehicles have trim levels, plenty of sports cars have trim levels some are performance oriented others aren't. Those who love the base FR-S are indeed happy, those who wanted the car we saw in the magazines when it was badged Toyota were not. Removing monospec, you could satisfy all potential FR-S customers because you offered everything rather than the idea of one size fits all.

For the Monogram, even though I ordered one I dislike the idea that its a special edition. This should be offered as an additional trim level from the start, not now as a limited special edition.

I was given my 10 Series VIN the day it was built, several weeks before it shipped. Any alert dealer can contact the regional distributor to assign a name to a car as a sold unit and do the same.

If Monogram is a special edition, I imagine they'll build enough for at least one per dealer. If fewer are built, arrivals will be spread using Toyota's travel rate formula that rewards FR-S sales and punishes dealer stock.

This is a secret squirrel type of car. You have to "know" someone to order it.

I will be picking my vehicle up at the regional office.

I am told their is a two week lag on vin notification on this vehicle.

Outside of that information, everything else would be speculation on my part.
Congrats! Sounds like we ordered the same way.

There is no two week lag. Have your contact check the Main Vehicle Inquiry report VDO7110 or I can do it if you'd like. That way you could track your ship in transit from Japan as I posted in the 10 Series thread. Should be simple if it's the only M/T offloading and I can check the damage status, if any, and confirm the build date and time.

If you can post anything concrete, prior to me, regarding a white, Monogram, manual trans coming in through the Port of Portland, I will give you a two-thumbs-up.
You're welcome! Really nothing more concrete to post than the report number I provided. It will show all FR-S's that may then be filtered by any variable you choose. This assumes that the car was assigned to your name. Here's a random daily report (VIN erased) for my 10 Series that shows a few of the things I mentioned that was first generated on the day the car was built. It's the same report available to you or any dealer now with a phone call or email. It was fun watching the ship transiting the Pacific in real time on a maritime site link I posted in the 10 Series thread.

I would have bought a monogram model if it was released from the get-go. But I already have my car and a set of JDM headlights, so I don't feel that much envy.

I want those leather seats. The bottoms prolly give firmer support than the softer cloth seat covers.

Hey Monogram Dude you really come off a bit aggressive when you post about this.

I think the point was the Scion FR-S Monogram edition in Japan would be called 'FT-86'

I appreciate that you're a special snowflake and are getting yours early, but if you're gonna be all 'I can't tell it's sekrit' it'd be easier to just stop posting about it because you're just annoying people who are interested with all your hand waving.

Scion is North American only, and Japan has had cars with the options the Monogram claims to have since the car came out. Your Toyota "contact" is either full of shit or you're just so adamant that you're right that you are making shit up. I'm thinking the former.

^Seconded. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but for a moment I thought I was the only one who felt that this user was coming off arrogant without reason.

Best to just wait it out and see what happens.

Nope, you're not the only one. Yet he calls me a "jackass" for questioning his posts.
