quoted on autoblog. once again the automotive journalist world comes to us for their frs/brz news. congrats ft86club, we have officially beat auto journalists at their own game.

No offense to the op of the thread but the autoblog article should really reference and give credit to the original yahoo article since that is the original source. http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20...06-fsi-bus_all Poor journalism on their part. If anything they should have given credit to the yahoo article and cross mentioned it being posted here.

Some of this information may be skewed... From the other posts in the last few days, we are hearing that the new Impreza will be built on this line. I think optimism is the word here. The capability to keep up with demand mey be information in between the lines.

Whew... if there was a 22k FRS... many people would skip the Civic Si type cars.
How cool are you at 16-20 years old with this car at school?! I remeber when the WRX came out- a 6 month wait.
Thats was a super cool car to have here in the north east back around launch (that was 01 right?)

I think its clear they make a nice chunk of change on this car (that helped them sell this "slow sports car with warranty void writen all over it" to the board members of both companies. I'm sure they want to sell as many of these as possible.
If the MPG is stellar on this little bugger, you will see a lot of sales!... Still waiting for that info.

That is the the $64,000 dollar question. We don't even know price yet, so my guess is this question will remain unanswered until we get beyond the price issue and even then it may remain vague so dealers can stick with the "rare" mantra.

I don't understand NOT wanting these cars on every street corner. If this car can succeed we'll have more people entering the market and competition is always a good thing that makes the cars better and better.

I agree completely :-)

But for the sniffy type that like to talk about "true driver's car", it you don't get it there is something wrong with you, it's for purests, etc... having it be less common than other cars is part of it's appeal.

i couldn't agree with you more...I felt the same way when i got my evo 10...I didn't mind seeing them everywhere....actually was pretty cool cause i would always throw a peace sign at them...

Exactly.

Mazda and Nissan might be thinking "Hey, the FRS/86/BRZ is doing well. Let's green light and fast track the new RX/Silvia before we miss this boat."

Maybe Honda will take notice too and we'll get a worthy successor to the S2000, rather than a "sports car" CRZ that flops on its face.

Meanwhile, if this is doing well and the market shows that people want more, Toyota might be more interested in bringing back the Supra at a somewhat reasonable price point for its segment.

Maybe Mitsubishi will resurrect the Eclipse as a RWD platform with an updated Evo engine?! Wait, no, that's a pipe dream and will never happen.

I like to use the FJ as an example, an average of 25-30k a year has been sold since 2006 in the US and although not rare, they are not extremely common yet there are enough to create a huge aftermarket for them.

If they sell the same amount it would be perfect, and it sounds like that will be the case.
