Here is my poor translation on the first two paragraphs.....
----
On March 16, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, a president of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., announced a policy aiming to 100,000 units in annual production of "Subaru BRZ" and "Hachiroku", new sports car jointly developed with Toyota Motor Corporation. Since the introduction of BRZ & Hachiroku early February (- in Japan), the orders significantly exceed monthly sales goal in the both companies. They will increase the production capacity in Subaru Gunma factory (Ota City, Gunma Prefecture), which is originally planned as a 5,000 per month.

Yoshinaga said this on Monday at the ceremony for the start of mass production at the plant. Since the introduction on February 2, 7,000 orders of Hachiroku (- by Toyota) have been placed, which are as seven times as the monthly sales target, while 2,500 orders for BRZ since the announcement on February 3, which are 5.6 times as the original target.

That's just so awesome. To add some perspective, I looked up sales of another car that had the same target demographic - the 7th gen Celica. 65,000 units were sold in its 2000 launch year and 15,000 units in its final 2005 year.

Thanks, yajin. Great to hear, increased production might avoid dealer ripoffs. And your translation is a HUGE step up from Google quality!

True, also we need to how many are going to be export to the US. This is more important than the # of the production for us.

Oops, you notice it..yes, I'm lazy, it's based on the google translation.....which is not so bad....

Challenge Accepted.

Great! If they produce and sell at these volumes, these things will be cheap as chips as a 2nd hand buy in a couple years time.

Also, good (& affordable) after market parts will be coming out.

Does this mean A: dealer allocations will change and B: pricing could be affected positively because they're able to build more for less?

Thanks for the translation OP.

For 100,000 units to be produced the first year is good news. My sources last month were telling me 80,000 for the first year. With the first and second quarter selling them at limited quantities in select areas. Then going full throttle globally by 3 and ending strong 4th quarter.

I don't think Toyota and Subaru ever dreamed of getting this much attention for this car in 2009-2010 that they had to adjust their market figures.

I could give a rat's @$.$ about exclusivity. I want this car to be on every street corner.
