Yeah I like this suggestion also. If the Elise is half the car that the exige is then it will be fun to drive and it seems a lot better equipped for daily driving. The exige should be advertised as a "race car" because it is not very short of being one. I'd say go test drive the Elise and see what you think. They are a lot cheaper and you can always add the back half and other body panels to make it look like an exige.

If you race on the track, you are very VERY familiar with what you like, feel comfortable with, and want from a car. and you sure as hell know exactly what car thats available is the one you want. You dont wish-wash on a forum saying youve had this and that and you race at the track in this but dunno what you want.

Sounds like you belong in the 240 crowd. Good novice power and neutral handling dynamics. Perfect probie car for you.
I know what I like on the track, however a street car is a different story all together. My rabbit started as a street car and ended up a track car. I am the point where I would like to get the rabbit to a new home, so I bought a frs thinking it would a great street car to eventually retire the rabbit at the track.
However all my previous rwd street cars have been way over powered. I would love an FD however I was trying to find a newer vehicle that I could drive for a bit a street car and enjoy car cruises with. Besides fd's that haven't been hacked to shit are rare.

Read through this article, still confused why you are so against a Corvette. The C5 ZO6 is exactly what you are looking for and it really is a great car to DD, autocross, track, etc.

i dont know why I hate vette so much. i just dont like them. My buddy has a very nice one but i just dont want anything to do with it.
I dont want leather, i dont want nav, i dont want power seats, no heated seats, none of the bullshit.
I bought the frs because it was a stripped down drivers car with none of the extras.

Sounds to me like you are just telling us all the reasons to keep the frs and turbo it.

thats my issue... i have a platform i like, just not the power i would like. I have been told an ej swap is gonna be insanely expensive and the fa20 seems as if it really doesnt want to be boosted.
thats why i was looking at other options.

If you can find a Lotus Exige to test drive you really should. It sounds like everything you are looking for. The car is about as basic you can get and is all about being a drivers car. It also has more power and is lighter than an FR-S so should give you what you want in the performance department. And you don't need it as a daily driver which it key..

What about a used Cayman?

i havent been able to find either one within a reasonable drive.. i live in pa and my only day off is typically sunday, no auto sales on sunday in pa so i am limited to after work during the week, thus it needs to be near by so to speak.

What you actually want is something that doesn't exist.

So pick your compromise and live with your choice, or build what you want from an existing platform.

Sounds to me that you should just start saving for an LS swap.
