I wouldn't get too broken up about the transmission not swapping over to a EJ. Even if you did want to shoehorn a turbocharged EJ in, the turbo isn't going to fit. In the location where it is now on the WRX/STI, it won't work. We checked. Simply, no space.

So a turbocharged FRS/BRZ is going to happen with a turbo kit designed specifically for the cars, whether or not it's the standard FA or the EJ. It looks like what we are designing for the Droo-P car is going to be cutting edge enough that we may have picked up another D1 team car to build.

Yeah, that was pretty much expected. Which begs the question; is that IC inlet pipe just there for show?

Absolutely not. The question is, how long is it?

Hell no. Front/under engine mounting. Remote mount doesn't work, not unless you are doing a 2psi build on a 8-liter v8.

...and even then, we just went ahead and made our own manifolds for the twin turbo V8 kits. Shortest path is always best.

AVO's been building turbo kits for n/a engines since the Bronze age. Well, 30+ years, at least. They are working on making as short a path as possible from the exhaust ports on the engine to the turbo. I'm sure what Ross is doing on the Droo-P is mostly on the spot fabrication, but that's give us a fair idea on what to do with the production turbo kit.

Can't really talk about the other D1 car until it's official, it's a famous enough team that it'll make some waves in Japan. Already making enough waves as is...

Bah, I have to eat my words - I didn't hear it right when we were discussing the car's build. The race car *is* going to have a turbocharger up on the side, similar to an STI/WRX build. That's only because of the Hollinger gearbox that is going in. The *production* turbo kits that I'm not supposed to talk about are going to be front mounted.

thanks Paul.

I cant think of any other place to have a turbo than front mounted like the current legacy. figured AVO and other companies would go this route.
