If I have to buy the next generation, I need the rear seats to take my kids to school and still get those "idiot of this school!" looks from the minivan and SUV drivers.

I hope it costs $39,000 + destination and special edition cost $47,000 so no one buys it ever.
that's my wish. Then it will be bought by people who have 0 appreciation for actual sport cars and they will hate it and discontinue it. |

What attributes should Toyota and Subaru retain in the Second Generation FT-86 (aka
I think at its core, it needs to focus on “Fun”.
For the target market of this car, i think fun is defined as: (1) great driving experience (2) low risk in terms of safety and investment (3) ease of owning and modification And to deliver that “fun” from an engineering standpoint, i think “simplicity” is the key element needed to ensure the fun spirit is achieved. Things they might do: (1) Keeping added features and extra hardware not related to driving at a minimum, thus lowering costs and reducing maintenance items. At most, just taking advantage of software like Tuning and automation of creature comforts. This also reduces the amount of things to consider and balance out - thus making mods easier to do, adding fun and performance at the same time. (2) Give it a bit more power but minimally. (5-10%) at the most. Power is a tricky equation because it may counterbalance a lot of things such as maintenance, fun in needing to work with the car, entry-level ease of learning, overall desired feel. Etc. = power and fun (in target market terms) are opposite sides of the seesaw. (3) Make everything just about more efficient by combining both Subaru and Toyota’s new tech. (Toyota has a lot of learnings to apply and contribute with its multiple global platforms, Supra learnings, etc) (4) cosmetic stuff Thats a bout it i guess. I feel like “major leaps and changes” just doesn’t coincide with the spirit of this car, and making huge changes may actually be a risk. Its not like a daily commuter where people just want to squeeze the best value out of in every iteration. Rather, its focusing on delivering some fundamental values in a modern environment. |

Well, we can expect AEB...Automatic Emergency Braking, as it's gonna be the law soon.
More govt. BS interference in our lives. Oh, Jeez, I just got rear ended because my vehicle stopped very quickly, in an instance I could have avoided by steering out of it. |

It’s funny you wrote that because more often than not that’s exactly what you do. I didn’t think about that until you posted.

I can see the brake pads on my car. Fronts anyway. All you need to do is sawsall every other spoke out of the wheels. Next mod will be an oil cooler for track days
