I think the Camry from "Hades", your refering to is that one that makes over 1000whp, based out of Toronto, Canada. Mine is another emerald green Camry, with a prototype Phantom ESC kit (with installation hard wardware designed by me), running around in Fenton and Rob's back-yard. This one would probably just shake you guys (running the ESC) up a bit, as it might hang far better than it should, with your FRS/BRZ's. If you don't have the ESC, watch out, it might just walk all over you!

Got ya. I scavenged wrecking yards for pieces to build my prototype install with. Found a handy piece off of a Mazdaspeed 3. It has been so reliable that I've just kept it in place, and not replaced it with full out silicone "Frozen Boost" pieces yet. If your not expecting it, my little old Camry is, a little bit of a "bad" old girl to run into though.

OK. So I got one and its on the car as of 30 minutes ago. The humidity is horrible, the tune is fresh the batteries are being reconditioned yet my jaw hurts from a smile plastered on my face. Am I dreaming or is this for real?

you have been trying to decide about as long as I have been waiting to order and you still got one before me... Well at least another happy customer only confirms my choice. Hope you enjoy it.

I have a point of confusion I am hoping kit owners can answer.
I hear people repeatedly state this kit "only makes boost at WOT." This makes no sense to me, as an FI setup that only engages the moment you hit full throttle would exhibit unsafe drivability. Is this truly how the kit operates or are these just uninformed people repeating the same banter over and over? Can someone elaborate on when/how this kit engages boost. I assume it is in fact modifiable according to the tuning. The way people talk about it however, make it sound like an on off switch and not progressive like, say, every well tuned FI solution in existence. Are there really people who have it set up in such a fashion, and do they realize the hazards it presents?

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

5psi of boost is hardly dangerous, unless you are an idiot. It is engaged by a mechanical switch bolted behind the throttle pedal. It does take about a half second to a second to ramp up, but it is more or less on/off. Every user of the system has it set up that way.

Glad y'all are having a blast with it. Unfortunately it sounds like it's not what I'm looking for.

It feels just like a low spooling turbo in that sense. Many people have raised this concern but all those that have used the system can attest to its linear acceleration and smooth onset of boost. |

@MmmHamSandwich
How does it feel? <80% Throttle = Like a NA car + e85, header & tune >80% Throttle = Like a FI car with short boost lag (~500ms) Corner Entry = <80% Throttle (NA car) Corner Steady State = <80% Throttle (NA car) Corner Exit = Rolling on to throttle while unwinding steering wheel (NA car transitioning to FI car) Straight = >80% Throttle (FI car) It's not complicated. |
