Car's So Good I Bought It Twice

Got an FRS June 2012

After a year I sold it and used the the money I got as a downpayment on a red BRZ Limited. I just hit 33,400 miles driving to work today, and my one major problem with the car is that it still doesn't have a goddamn snail under the hood. Which I'll be fixing Soon™.

I'm gonna add to this I only have 4500 miles and so far the issues have been:

1) The AT downshift issue that plagues the 2015 with hard shifts brought it in at 400 miles to a dealer and they didn't do crap and said they would send there info to toyota, took until 4000 miles at the first oil change for a TSB to be applied to fix it

Fuel Pump chirp (non issue)

Issues essentially caused by me:
Front passenger side had a flat tire, a nail was found in the inner sidewall

Uber thin paint, my trunk has slight scratches from a tree branch falling on it as well as a barely noticeable scratch on my drivers mirror cap that I'm 90% was from someone brushing against it

Front bumper doesn't fit right below the headlight, put it back on in a hurry after installing winjets and I'm waiting on new push pins to replace ones damaged from installing win-jets

Is this the Pioneer unit? "Reset" as in it needs a password? If so, there IS a hack..

I bought my BRZ used, someone had previously set a password (prev owner said he hadn't but who else would?)

Anyway, I disconnected the battery one day while installing my catch can and when I started the car back up, the HU needed a password to do literally anything other than power up.
Did a little internet research, loaded a program onto a microSD and used it to find what password had been set, which let me unlock the thing and reset the password.

I still have the files if this is the problem you have with your HU.

Mine isn't pw protected, it asks for the SD card. I don't think mine is a pioneer unit.

No major issues for me so far (23k miles, 20+ track days). List of smaller issues I've had:

- CEL/idle issue. Resolved early on with dealer reflash.
- Touchy passenger one-touch window switch. Could have fixed under warranty but it doesn't bother me enough.
- Fuel pump chirps. Don't really notice them.
- Coil pack failure. Annoying, but happened after numerous track days so I'm not complaining. Relatively easy to fix.
- Melted brake piston dust seals. To be expected with track time.

Given the amount of abuse this car has seen, I'm pretty happy with its durability. I do change out the fluids pretty often and am using an oil cooler. I will also be upgrading to BBK and hopefully decreasing brake temps. So far so good.

Today it sounded like my dash was falling apart, every bump in the road resulted in a squeak or rattle from it.

Also the valvetrain noise can be a little chattery this time of year.
