I think this car is heavy, <2,800 lbs is great for a modern consumer passenger vehicle but for a sporting chassis it is on the heavy side imo. I also think this car is much more practical than a traditional sports car could ever pretend to be, and it feels like a boat in comparison to even an NC Miata with coilovers and sways, let alone the laughable 'go-kart' comparison.

I guess if you consider the 240Z a sports car then this is 100% a sports car, I disagree with that. This is from Car and Driver in 1970:

Quote:
The people at Datsun balk at calling the 240Z a sports car. To them it's a "personal" GT car. Even so, they know perfectly well who the customers will be-sports car buyers-adventuresome young Americans who were collecting their dollars for an Opel GT or MGB-GT or Porsche 914 until something better came along and changed their minds. Still, the "personal" GT car description somehow fits. It separates the Datsun from whimsical, superficial sports cars like the Opel GT and moves it off into a mature class of automobiles that has more to offer than just amusement. The Z-car, as it has come to be called, is a very real transportation automobile, meant as much for coast-to-coast journeys as it is for playing around on idyllic summer days. Datsun is probably right. The Z-car really isn't a sports car.

I'm sorry dude. You just lost all credibility when you said a twin feels like a boat when compared to an NC miata with coil overs and sways.

Sorry my opinion is not credible and that the NC Miata you drove with coilovers and sways did not exemplify how much 300 lbs and a 10" delta in wheelbase changes the agility of a vehicle.

I'm saying that my BRZ with coil-overs and sways does not feel like a boat compared to any miata.

Even with-out sways and coil-overs; it hardly feels like a boat to any miata (suspension modified included).

I just want to know if I'm the only one that thinks a muscle car =/= a sports car? I think muscle cars are different. They can't be both. But I'm sure I'm alone in this.

I mean...do you play sports with your FRS?

I haven't seen anybody play rugby or soccer inside their FRS/BRZ... The Kia's that played rugby on Top Gear a few seasons back.. now those were REAL sports cars.

That moment when you say you're going to change the definition on wikipedia and you actually do it lol!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_car

According to this, my above statement is 100% correct and everybody else in this thread is entirely wrong. Because the internet said so.

Oh I am with you! Since I came from the old school muscle car crowd I know the difference.

Bingo. The twins aren't any smaller than a Supra which is a pretty classic GT car in my book... Though my Supra was ~1000lbs heavier

But I disagree with the statement that it feels like a boat. Coming from a NB with coilovers and sways, this car feels just like that, just more refined. It never feels "heavy" because of it's low CoG.
