So did others reattach this piece? I took this piece, the spring, the pin and the e clip off and never reinstalled any of it.
I did just because I didn't want to lose it somewhere.
I don't think it matters either way.

What's the non-reversible part of this he mentions?

Don't ask don't tell? I really don't think something like this is listed any where in the rule book and I highly anyone would notice or care.

Don't think there was anything about non-reversible. Just that it's a slight pain in the ass since the spring is compressed so much. You'd need some fairly strong zip ties to get it compressed enough to get back in place.

WOW - this made a huge difference!! I can actually feel what the clutch is doing now, and I'm no longer driving the car like I've never driven a stick shift before.

I would say that there's a negligible increase in pedal stiffness. The only part that kind of bothers me is the play at the top of the pedal travel now.

Has anyone played with lighter springs just to take the slack out of the pedal?

I certainly wouldn't say it's a negligible increase. The pedal is stiffer than my jeep's aftermarket clutch now. It's not insanely stiff, but it is noticeable in my opinion.

MTEC makes a spring that I'm debating on trying to remove that slack you're referring to.

I had the same reaction...

I posted about the same thing... the slop at the top of the pedal seems to be par for the course. I don't think it's negatively affecting the operation of the clutch -- I don't feel it slipping or smell it burning, so I think operationally everything is OK, it's just got a less-than-optimal feel. I'm not going to try any other springs because I think they would all produce the same effect as the stock spring just with varying stiffness, but what I hated about having the stock spring was that it made the pedal travel non-linear and any spring (in my opinion) would reintroduce that to some degree.

I wouldn't say the pedal is really any stiffer, just that it's much more linear and you don't have the spring acting as a leverage aid. I much prefer the feel without the spring.

Noticeable? Yes. Though it really feels extremely similar in effort to me... I dunno, maybe there's some difference in 2013 vs 2015? This is still, without a doubt, one of the lightest clutches I've come across.

Agreed on all points. The play at the top is more of a superficial "feels cheap" issue to me, rather than any sort of performance concern. I'm sure I'll come up with something to eliminate that, I just don't want to negatively affect the newly gained feel in the pedal now. I'm super happy I decided to remove the spring!

I noticed the same and I was going to adjust the pedal height (shown in another DIY, 10 mins and 2 open wrenches are enough to get it done). I thought that would get rid of the wiggle room.

Can anybody confirm that?

BTW, getting rid of the spring was the best thing i've done to my car so far!

Adjusting the pedal height does not eliminate the slop at the top of the pedal.

The spring is what is eliminates the free-play. See:
