Love the look on WRB. Loved the old Prodrive P1s on my WRX.

RCE springs did indeed provide the perfect drop. Very subtle in comparison but those 20mm really makes all the difference in the world.

Could any of you with the 17x7.5 version of this wheel be willing to test to see if they will fit over the Essex sprint BBK.

Light wheels and summer tires for street use

I just bought OZ Alleggerita in Graphite Silver. I elected to buy 17 x 7.5 and fit 225/45 x 17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires in 91 V load rating. I need a summer tire that won't give up at low temperatures as I drive at high elevation (1,000 metres) where even daytime summer temperatures can get pretty low and the period for which summer temperatures are usual is less than 3 months long.

These OZ wheels are light at 15 lbs but tires are heavy at 24 lbs. Total weight will be a little lighter than stock as the tires are heavier but the new wheels are lighter. Stock is said to be around 43 lbs for the wheel and tire.

The A/S comes with an extra 1/32 of tread depth over the stock Primacy HP which accounts for around a pound of the extra weight. I could have saved a pound per tire by buying the more expensive 91Y but judged that unnecessary.

The stock tire is only a load/speed rating of 87W which allows it to be lighter than the 91V load/speed rating. The stock tire is pretty light though at only 21 lbs for a 94W load/speed rating. Those LRR sidewalls save a lot of weight.

Moral of the story is to consider wheel weights together with tire weights before you get too excited about saving weight with those expensive new wheels....

I did something similar going with a used set of SSR Type-C rims and Pilot Super Sports (Same as yours I'm pretty sure).

Having picked up both, I can't even tell a difference in weight with the tires on. I suspect most of the weight saving isn't close to the edge of the rim either, making it have very little affect on performance.

Either way, I wanted a slightly wider rim with a stickier tire.

Tirerack.com lists weight under the specs tab when looking up a tire.

I personally plan on getting a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx RT. At 225/45R17 size tirerack.com has them listed at 18lbs. Problem is they are a 'max performance summer' tire so they will lose performance in the cold. If others are looking for a light weight summer tire these should be of interest.
