I've had my FR-S for almost a year now and now its time for the big first mod. Which in this case would be an almost complete overhaul of the audio system. Im changing the stock speakers with Alpine's SPR-60c (with crossovers), JL Audio's JX360 2-channel amp, and a Sound Ordinance B-8PTD powered sub. And finally a Clarion EQS746 equalizer. All of this will be used with the stock HU since it pretty much has every feature that I would want in a HU. Plus I'm wrapping the whole car in Stinger sound dampening.

If any of any of you has had any experience with this products I'd like to hear about your experiences. Plus, since I'm new at this whole car audio thing, any advice would be much appreciated.
first and for most dynamat the doors, roof and trunk before u buy audio equipment

I didn't read through the entire thread. Are you connecting these with an amp?

I see you aren't too far from KC. If you ever need help and want to make the trip, I can always lend a hand in person.

Stock amp only powers the doors. Rear and dash are mids. Dash has a tweeter.

The factory head unit is really a 4 channel device even though it is supplying 6 speakers. The front channels are full range. These supply the mids in the dash, the tweeters and the amp that feeds the front door speakers. The rear channel goes to the back speakers only and has a factory crossover installed. The crossover is in the head unit itself and as of yet, no one I know has any way to defeat it. If you want good speakers or a sub in the back, you will have to feed them a signal from the front channels on the head unit or else you will have limited bass.

It's not the prettiest solution but I would rewire the door speakers to be powered off the rear channel of the head unit. This will limit bass to the door speakers which may not be a bad thing since some people have complained about their doors rattling. Then I would wire the rear speakers up to the front channel where the door speakers were.

Doing it this way you would supply full range to the 4 dash speakers and the rear speakers. The rear channels would power the door and limit the bass to them. Your fader wouldn't fade from front to rear anymore but you could still balance the system by attenuating the amp to the rear until the speakers blend.

Page 322 has a wiring diagram for the front channels and page 320 shows how the rear speakers are wired: http://www.ft86club.com/files/BRZwiringi.pdf
