Yes, but what you seemed to be proposing was to not trust the insurance company and take the parts off anyways, but then what do you do if they do actually pay you out for the parts?

You're better off swapping the parts anyway since normally people don't add the value of the aftermarket parts to their car insurance.

Take all aftermarket off and put OEM back on is what I am saying. Chances are they will not pay you for aftermarket items even if they have it in writing. Geico are a bunch of crooks when it comes to getting away with not paying.

Most insurances are that way. Do NOT leave mods on the car. Replace with stock no matter what they try to tell you. Car's yours til they pay.

it hurts to see this happen. My RX-7 was totaled while it was parked by an older woman in a big Cadillac that hit the passenger side and kept going for a while before stopping, so my whole passenger side was ruined. The cops ruled that she was on some medications or something, she was out of it. Still hurt to see a car I spent years and thousands of dollars on totaled, and I'm sure you felt exactly the same seeing your car like that.

Hope insurance takes care of things and you get back in a new car soon.

Insanely hard to look through those photos. Glad nothing serious happened,
and a new FR-S/BRZ is never a bad thing.

TAKE THE MODS OUT!. As you know I recently got into an accident myself, but my insurance didn't reimburse me for my Borla. Take out the part and let Geico know that you have it. If they say that they're going to replace/give money for it, tell them that you'll ship it to them after you get it. No sense in giving it to them if they could lie about it. But contact them first before you do it.

I work in Rockville and I'll be working on Sunday, but it's from 7-5pm.

Hopefully things work out for you, and look for the 10-series. It'd be nice to have another Mid-Atlantic member with one! I have no doubt that they'll total it (good thing). You don't want to drive something with frame damage.

It's going to be a long process, just a heads up.

@kanundrum is absolutely right. I work in autobody as an estimator and work hand in hand with these situations and insurance companies on a daily basis (Namely, GEICO). Make sure to remove everything, they may say they will pay you but trust me, do not believe anything they say unless it's fully documented, or somewhere in their policy for claimants. Wish I was closer so I could come up and help this weekend. Sucks it had to happen, but it could be a lot worse. Hopefully everything works out for you
