RX8 weight: 3111 lb, HP: 212hp. lb/hp = 14.7 , 0-60mph = 6.3 sec
2011 MINI Cooper S 2668 lb, 181 hp = 14.7 lb/hp, 0-60mph = 6.2 sec 2010 GTI 3034lb, 200 hp = 15.2 lb/hp , 0-60mph = 6.9 sec. FRS weight: 2750 lb ? HP: 200hp. lb/hp = 13.8 , 0-60mph = 5.9 sec sounds reasonable. Last edited by miata; 01-20-2012 at 12:30 AM. |

But isnt 2750 the gt86 weight. I kept seeing 2596lb for the Fr-s which would put it at 12.98 lb/hp. ...either way

![]() No way is it going to be under 2600lb... the BRZ's official weight was released and it was in the upper 2700s IIRC. Don't know how the FR-S is going to find 200lbs to lose over that. |

I hate to burst anyone's bubble. But the FR-S has an almost identical power to weight ratio as the 7th gen Celica GT-S. I haven't done too much research, there are a lot of variables that come in to play, but the Celica is fwd, with 20 less hp but about 200lbs less weight. The FR-S is 200lbs heavier and has 20 more hp... Like I said.. lots of variables, but the Celica had around a 6.5ish 0-60 and ran about a 15 second flat 1/4 mile. I'm expecting the same for the FR-S.

Gearing, gearing, gearing, gearing.
Also didn't the 02ish celica have a terribly low redline to prevent idiots from 4-2ing their gearbox to death? |

Mini and GTI aren't good comparisons, they have turbos making tons of boost at low rpm.
I thought RX8 had more like 232hp though? That puts it better than the FRS... Anyways 1/4 mile reaches higher speeds so FRS could have advantage over Celica with lower drag and more power. They also have similar gearing. My guess is slightly better than Celica in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile. So maybe similar to RX8. |
