Does the car require a wheel alignment if the car hopped. i have read somewhere that wheel hop can throw the alignment off badly.

the wheel hop comes from the traction link that stops the rear knuckle from moving forward and back. we need a solid link to hold a little pressureon it, but the bushing for that is pressed into the knuckle itself so not a easy swap. I hate wheel hop. I get it on drag tracks and wet days

I watched a vid of the rear diff moving around with the stock bushings. As much as the diff deflects I would say that shoring up the diff with stiffer bushings would go a long way towards reducing or eliminating wheel hop.

The MT DR shouldn't have much spring rate to them. The last time I ran DR's I was down at about 12 psi, but that was awhile ago and a completely different setup. I think I ended up with about 11.5 on the drivers side and 12.5 on the passenger side when cold. The Quaife LSD wasn't enough to offset the horrible track prep at the local track and the drivers side always seemed to let go first. This was enough for me to be able to side step the clutch at 5800 rpm and still hook. The car was gutless, but man it was fun to watch people's faces when they realized a stock looking Neon just cut a 1.9 60. /ramble Last edited by Calum; 08-27-2013 at 09:53 PM. |

Lol. I barely get hop with the dr's. I think it has to do with the low first gear ratio not allowing enough wheel speed to fully break traction. If I use launch control in second gear there's no hop just tire smoke lol

Do the subframe bushings move that much? In the under-car vid I watched, I could see the diff itself moving a BUNCH, but I couldn't see the subframe bushings move at all.
I know on my BMW 135i, it made a Huge difference, and was the first thing anyone did when improving the suspension. The 135i subframe moved over an inch with stock bushings, but the BRZ/FRS subframe I couldn't see it moving at all. |
