I somehow don't understands what is going on right now. I like that the stock wheels are 17" and not any bigger. The new Opel Astra for example runs 20" rims, has less than 200 PS and is a heavy boat. What I want for the FT-86 it to put some very light 17" rims, nothing to big or to small, so that ursprung weight will be reduced and and improve handling and performance. I'd look at some Volk, Advan or Enkei rims with Nitto, Toyo or Advan semi-sliks.
The ones I want most are THESE
The problem is they only are available in 18". I just hope they'll make a set for TOYOBARU specially.

And what about you, your partner, kids, parents or friends that are in the car hit by them when they crash due to having wheels that f**k up the cars ability to stop/turn?

Have you lost someone to an accident like this?

I had a friend who died because they were hit by someone who had done some stupid offset for looks and it screwed up the car!

What the factory offset this car comes with will be important if it comes with 5x100.
Will it be a high offset like most Subies? Or the stupid inbetween offset of +39 like the Celica was.

I wonder if you could prosecute said drivers for gross negligence if their improper modifications are ever the cause of a crash.

In a way, yes (UK based, so USA will be a certainty!)

BUT that doesn't get anyone back, or heal those who were injured!

If its for shows fair enough, but trailer the f**king car!

Your feeling are not unfounded, but those kinds of dangers are found in any car, among any driver, among any situation.

I lost a cousin who was killed by a stock evo driven by a 16 year old kid. Does that mean all 16 year old kids with fast cars will kill people? Does my experience suddenly change my perspective a little? I try not to get overly emotional and personal about similar situations. AKA im not going around telling every 16 year old kid with a fast car to stop driving, or calling cops on them. etc..

Low offset wheels themselves do not cause accidents, because they usually come in sizes which gives a very large contact patch. ie 18x11.5 0 offset is a big wide wheel, and for certain cars they give performance.

Its when you take that sort of wheel or any wheel for that matter and give yourself 30 degrees of negative camber and a 195-205/35 stretched tire with virtually no sidewall. That will bring driveable risks. Its also a combination of several things like that, that probably was cause of your friends death.

Iv seen many accidents and deaths under safe environments and running a low offset wheel isn't grounds for determining an unsafe environment.

Sorry for your loss but wtf are you talking about?

A properly set up Stanced vehicle can still perform as well as a vehicle with flush / sunk wheels.

I ran like this for a year and I could still corner and brake like a champ.

I want 17's for the 86, and but....damn if those are only made in 18's I might have to suck it up an upgrade.
