Sounds like that’s what it could be after all. I found a clip of one that sounds nearly identical a few minutes ago. Thank you for the reply

Your car has some cool mods on it, it just needs some TLC.

It would be ideal if there was a Subaru specialty shop local to you that you could take it to!

I have an appointment set for next week! I do love the exhaust system on the vehicle, it sounds great for the most part. Wish I could say I chose it lol

This is the part list sent from the previous owner
- Mishimoto performance intake
- FT86 Speedfactory unequal length catted headers
- Tanabe over pipe
- Hooker Blackheart front pipe
- Corsa Performance catback exhaust
- ACT XT Street Performance Clutch with Lightweight Flywheel
- MTEC stainless steel clutch line
- Fumoto quick oil change drain plug

Pretty cool, I bet that exhaust is loud but has a satisfying UEL Subaru rumble.

Only thing I would do is remove the intake and go back to a stock intake or a TRD intake.

What kind of tune is on the car currently?

I eventually want to replace the intake with a stock one. If I have time after the dealership maybe I can hit up a scrap yard and see if I can find a salvage in good condition. As for the tune, I honestly have no idea. I assume it's a stock tune. The previous owner didn't strike me as someone who went too into modding and just stuck with external bits

Cool, sounds like you have a plan!

The only reason I ask about the tune is because with these cars if you just install a cold air intake and/or a header, you aren't going to be even able to fully take advantage of what performance these parts actually bring without a tune of some sort.

Especially the intake that's on there, if there's no tune it will actually run worse with it on there versus a stock intake.

Any recommended paths for tuning? I don't know the process of using an OFT

OFT is extraordinarily easy to use, can't really mess it up. Plenty of threads to search through here about it.

But yeah even if you do decide to tune, I would still ditch the CAI that's on there and go back to good old stock + some kind of drop in filter.

Sounds like something to look into! I always assumed tuning was very complicated (I’m sure it is in some cases) but just off the bat from looking into it, the OFT seems like an easy system to use. I’ll look into buying one in the near future! Thank you taking the time to reply!

That does sound pretty horrible. My guess is tuning issue and it exhaust leak(s)

Hopefully it was a quick fix at the place he took it, and now he's back out on the open road enjoying his ride!
