That's not the radiator fill port?

I may need to go change my oil again. And flush the radiator.

Have you not learned anything here? Changing your fluids is a miracke fix. Just leave it. It's fine. The motor knows which goes where and will correct it. Highly educated engineers designed this after all

Things built by humans sometimes fail. Regardless of what else happens, I'd make sure Toyota knows about that.

Just curious what would possess you to put $8k down on a lease? Everything I've read is that you should put the minimum amount down on a lease so that this sort of thing doesn't bite you.

That said, the car didn't depreciate $8000 + however much you made in payments since you signed the dotted line, so you should be able to argue that Toyota is only owed the total cost of the car ($27k... $8k of which you've paid) rather than your down payment plus the insurance payout. If the insurance pays out $24k for the car, Toyota should get $19k and you should get the delta of $5k.

Probably didn't know better or was looking for a certain payment are the only reasons really.

No matter what the cause, clearly a safety issue. Consider reporting it:

You can put things like security deposit which will help lower your interest rate and you get the $ back at the end of the lease. Depends on personal preference and what you feel you can get out of your $.

Did you smell anything before this happened (e.g. that burnt electrical smell)? TCOAT probably nailed it, but I had an issue awhile back where I had a USB adapter plugged into the Cigarette lighter (behind the glove box) and we started smelling burnt electrical. Pulled it out and it was still smoking .....

Sorry for your lost..

Did you purchase a "new car replacement" option in your insurance by chance?
