I really don't care that it gets bad gas mileage, I knew that forced induction wasn't only going to be an upfront cost, I knew that it was going to be a long term cost one also.
I just assume I get bad gas mileage cause my car is older, it was sold in 2012. And I have 70+ thousand miles. I can't expect to get perfect gas mileage when my car has been driven into the ground

Wait how is your mpg that low in Orlando? Traffic here is way worse and I still managed 18+ with Edelbrock.

Although if I were in Orlando I'd be taking 417 everywhere at like 90+ so mine would probably look like that too.

After doing a 90 mile highway trip my average went up to 16.5, I gues the traffic where I work is just terrible. Plus I only live about 2 miles from my job and it's all stop and go traffic

Seems like something's not right. I did a similar 100mi freeway trip with hills and averaged 29 mpg. Jumped up to 34 mpg after the supercharger was taken off.

I think a lot of it has to do with my rims.

After putting rims on my car I went from having 25-27 down to 19-20. Then after super charging, now I'm 15-16

Things aren't that much better with a centri. I make the trip from Sanford to the airport a couple times a month running steady 75mph on 417. Before the Jackson Racing kit, the indicated gas mileage was 33- 35 mpg on 93 octane. I run E85 exclusively now and the indicated mileage is now 17-18 mpg. That drop is more than you would expect from the change in fuel. I may fill up with 93 one of these days just to compare the difference.

Omg that is way to much dedication for me to run e85 in this area. How do you do it lol? Isn't there only 2 stations here?

My office is near the Michigan Citgo and I also have 6 VP jugs for track weekends. I usually drive the FRS once or twice a week when I don't expect to deal with a lot traffic. Drove this morning on I4 into Orlando and actually got 22mpg cruising between 65 and 70. As soon as it's stop and go I'm back in the mid teens.

Just to chime in, mine took a bigger dip than I expected but still not bad.

Stock car except for the Edelbrock kit, CARB tune. Car says 29 mpg after ~7k miles, reset fuel mileage at install, never reset again. This is mixed driving, ie some highway and some/long stop/go traffic.

This is still a decent drop as I recall the computer showing 33 mpg prior to the kit. So a 10-15% drop.

There has to be some sort of physical discrepancy across cars. I find it impossible to believe that some are getting high twenties and other are getting mid to high teens, with the same hardware.

Different injectors? Something is fishy and right now all we can do is just throw our hands up and deal with it.

I'm curious if the year the car was manufactured makes a difference.

Although i have to say i've never been above 30 mpg even when i was stock. I averaged 29. And i just checked yesterday and i'm 26.6 mpg. So for me it really didnt change much.

No, it's driving style & conditions. Consider these scenarios:

1) "I commute 50 miles each way on the highway, I live in rural Indiana, I'm a safety conscious driver" = you will get amazing average gas mileage, even with a supercharger. Flat, steady throttle, car gets nice an warmed up, nothing crazy

2) "I commute 50 miles each way on the highway, I live in Florida, I'm sometimes in bumper to bumper traffic" - Flat, car gets warmed up, even with some stop-n-go, your average mileage will still turn out ok

3) "I commute 25 miles each way, back roads, I live in Connecticut" = hilly, car gets warmed up, but you're constantly changing throttle and bleeding speed with your brakes, your mileage will be significantly worse than 1 or 2.

4) "I commute 6 miles each way, back roads (or not), I live in Connecticut" = this is me, I get average of 18 mpg. Without a supercharger. On 93 pump gas. For about 1/2 the trip my oil temps are < 150 deg. It's hilly. With stop signs.

That's not even taking into account the average speeds you drive, how aggressive you are on the throttle, etc. Take these scenarios with any make/model of car and you'll see these patterns (exception might be hybrids).
